It was only a couple weeks ago that Growl version 1.1.3 was released, but as some commenters noted on the 1.1.3 post, there was a bug that...

June 23 2008 at 11:55 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI got the install failed message the first time i tried with the previous version, but when i tried again it worked.
Same thing with this version, first attempt failed, second succeeded.
I am also getting the Install Fail error. Selected Close and ran the installer again and it installed fine.
I got the error in 1.1.3 as well. I ended up selecting a different install location (Me, not all users) and it installed fine. (Didn'T think to try restarting the installer that time)
me too, i now get the install failed, something that definitely did not exist in 1.1.3

June 18 2008 at 5:34 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyPlease forgive my "noobness" but what exactly does this growl thing do? The about page at growl.info doesn't make it any clearer.
It's a vastly-improved on-screen alert messaging system. Instead of you receiving hidden, obscure, or layered messages from your various programs, you get them where you want, on top of everything, and in a controllable form. More and more programs these days are supporting it, and some (such as Adium) come with the Growl installer built-in. Give it a try--it will become much clearer once you install it.

As kurt.tappe said, download it and try it. It's free, so there's nothing to lose :)
