Found Footage: Mac Gaming 101

Have you been wondering "where are all the Mac games?" Well, ChannelFlip (our newest favorite Mac-related podcast) has been asking the same question. In their latest episode, Mac Gaming 101, they take many points on the topic and explain why Mac users wait longer for ports of games.

You may recall last Mat's post last night about Blizzard; if only other gaming companies would do the same thing. You may also remember WWDC '07, when many game companies (including EA) promised PC/Mac releases on the same day -- while they have almost held up their promise, it still leaves us wanting more.

And everyone seems to forget that Halo was supposed to be a Mac launch title until M$ bought out Bungie. I just run XP on my Mac Pro. It plays all my game just fine that way.

Don't get me started on EA. As a regular Battlefield 2142 player, I couldn't be more angry and disappointed with them. They released an update a month ago for PC, yet there's still no Mac version.

Is this a big deal? You bet. BF2142 is an online-only game. So I watched as my available servers went from hundreds to 10 on a good day.

Plus, the game is almost twice as expensive for Mac, they have yet to release the Northern Strike booster pack, and the Mac version is slower and buggier.

EA can go jump in a lake.

Oh my.

Why aren't all the girls that pretty and play games with Macs?

Anyways. There's still lots to do with Mac gaming from both Apple and Developers. I'm afraid, that when almost all new games are released to both PC and Mac about the same time, I'm going to be so old that I don't play games anymore.

Anyhoo, things are definitely getting better all the time. That Guitar Hero looked somewhat tempting btw...
