Cocktail for Leopard 4.1.3
Cocktail, the power-user's system housekeeping app, has been updated to version 4.1.3, and now features support for Leopard 10.5.4.
The utility lets you enable and disable Spotlight indexing, disk journaling, kiosk mode, and a host of other "undocumented" options for the Finder, Dock, Safari, Mail, and many other applications.
In addition to 10.5.4 support, this update fixes a Firefox 3 bookmark bug, a crash while clearing user caches, and an issue where the uninstaller may fail to reset some network settings.
Cocktail 4.1.3 requires Leopard, and is universal binary. The update is free to registered users, and a single user license is $14.95 (with other licensing options available). Earlier versions of the app for Tiger and Panther are also available for download.

Now, I love TUAW as much as the next guy... but why is it that the only apps ever mentioned by TUAW cost money? It seems that even when free alternatives are mentioned in comments etc, TUAW only hypes the shareware apps. For example, both Onyx and Blacktree's Secrets can do the same things Cocktail can do for free. Any reason? Am I missing something?

They do! But only as the news comes. Onyx 1.9 was posted here on TUAW the moment it was available.
While i'd love to see TUAW do more "application roundups" where they can display awesome Mac software that some of us may be missing, they do try to post all the well named ones the moment there available.

Come on, did you get this from watching Twitlive? Seriously, Scott Bourne recommended this on Mac Break Weekly around 3:00....

Nope. I had this in the queue just before 11 a.m. Eastern. Got it from prMac on Reddit.

It would seem that TUAW is on the take from all these app shills who make you pay for something you could do on your mac for free.
To play devil's advocate maybe it is a slow news day...
