Apple: iTunes 7.7 available "in a few hours"
During an Apple Sales Web webcast earlier today discussing MobileMe, Apple employee Maxime Veron mentioned that iTunes 7.7 would be available "in a few hours."Keep checking iTunes and Software Update for more info.
Update: As of 6:05 PM EDT, no update was available. If this is tied to the MobileMe push starting at 9:00 PM EDT, we may begin seeing iTunes 7.7 at that time. This is, of course, pure speculation.

Hopefully they will drop the 2.0 firmware early as well. It would be nice to test out some of the features (exchange, .me) before I get 50 people with new iPhones asking how to configure theirs.

They mentioned how MobileMe will be going live for existing .Mac customers tonight, but it sounds like the 2.0 update for iPhone / iPod touch is not going to happen until Friday. Damn.

If Appleinsider is right and 5a345 is the 2.0 firmware in 3G phones, then it's kinda already available via torrent. It's known to activate for people with legit iphone contracts.

Just for existing .Mac customers or for new users too?

This quote is from the MobileMe transition FAQ:
"Q: What will I need for my iPhone or iPod touch to use MobileMe?
A: You will need to update to software version 2.0 or later to enable push mail, push contacts, push calendar, and push bookmarks. This software update will be available when MobileMe launches."

Lets hope to see the App Store available to coincide with the new iTunes version.
Meaning hopefully, a firmware 2.0 for the iPhone and iPod touch. Here's to hoping!

I'm a developer with 2.0 and the App Store still isn't live so I certainly wouldn't bet your life on it. Still, you never know with Apple, eh? :)

Sure hope you had a good one... ;)

Hopefully this'll be a good early test to see if "non-Apple" ringtones will still work.

Non Apple ringtones work fine already by using GarageBand to create them.

Still works in 2.0.

I think Maxime Veron is a he..
Steven Sande said 4:03PM on 7-09-2008
Oui - It is Monsieur Veron, not Mademoiselle Veron (i.e., Maxime, not Maxine).

MobileMe going live tonight, iTunes 7.7 drops tonight...hm. At this point it doesn't make much sense to *not* release iPhone 2.0, especially with the rumors of the AppStore going live at noon tomorrow (to coincide with iPhone 3G on-sale times in New Zealand; yay for crazy time differences).
Come on, Steve! Give us a present!

The thing is, with the beta 2.0 os that I currently have installed, clicking on the app store will give you the message "the app store is not supported in this country" this suggests to me that they'll activate on their side each country as it goes on sale.
