Apple TV 2.1 walkthrough

Today Apple released the 2.1 update for the Apple TV. The main new features of this update are MobileMe and support for Remote.app (Apple's Remote application for iPhone/iPod touch users).

Does anyone know how I can enble the auto update function again. Am now running on 2.0 and have disabled the update function (safe update) Now I would like to revert to be able to use Remote app.

I found a way to re-enable updates myself;
sudo bash -c 'echo "80.67.86.14 mesu.apple.com" >> /etc/hosts'

Working!!, now on 2.1 the only thing I need to do is find my Patchstick.....

Am I missing something here?

The kick-ass aTV screen saver that displayed multiple images at once that spun around every 30 seconds or so...where did it go? Is it buried in a setting now? I can only seem to set the screen saver to display a slideshow of the files in a folder of my chosing. I do NOT like just one picture on the screen at a time, nice transitions be damned.

Help?

did anyone else lose optical audio support after installing this update? mine was working last night and when I went to use the Apple TV after the update, it is not playing through the optical audio cable. I've already eliminated the possibility that it's the receiver, TV, or the cable itself.

Although you were asking if anyone else has lost optical audio, I'm sure knowing that optical audio still works for someone is just as valuable :) And it is still working fine for me.

The "main" new features of AppleTV include more than what you showed... including a new Movie Rental "wish list"!!! Thats totally awesome!

...plus improved organization and icons for playlists

...plus SD and Hd trailer selections...

...theres lots more to see!

Proper support for internet radio was added as well. Just create a playlist and add internet radio stations to it. Much cleaner that past hacks.

I installed the Apple TV update a little bit ago; now it seems that it is in perpetual sync mode. Going to try shutting everything down and rebooting--don't know how much of this is because of iPhone 2.0 installation as well. But is very curious.
