Apple: MobileMe transition taking longer than expected

I don't think it will come as a shock to anyone that the MobileMe transition hasn't gone as smoothly as Apple would have liked. A recent update to the .Mac support page (shown above) states, 'The MobileMe transition is underway but is taking longer than expected. Please refer to the official System Status to the right for current information on the availability of MobileMe services. We apologize for any inconvenience.'
Cory was able to sneak into MobileMe and take some pictures, so at least you can check out what you're missing. Here's hoping that this rocky start leads to a much more solid product since, as Mike pointed out, .Mac wasn't exactly a hallmark of uptime itself.

8 PM central time U.S., and I still can't get in. All I've got access to this weekend is a PC with IE, and me.com doesn't support it. mac.com still won't load at all. So, I've lost 3 days of being able to work. Utterly disappointing, Apple. Do I smell a class action lawsuit coming down the pike?

I can't login into the web site - gives me a user/password error, and I can't create any web galleries - it crahes my iPhoto.
I can run the Sync in Prefferences though... any ideas?
Thanks,
Ori
I'm in Hong Kong. It's now 11.38 on Friday and MobileMe is still not working. This is unacceptable. The one time I was able to access the service my online Address Book was missing loads of information. I'd have thought after 8 years Apple might have fixed the appalling Sync problems.

The "push" technology is good. However, I am incredibly underwhelmed by the online mail program. It is still maddeningly slow, and it does not have Rich Text. All of this wait, and I still have to go to Gmail or Yahoo Mail to send someone an e-mail with common attributes like bold text, italics, and underlining. What are they thinking at Apple? There is no way that me.com is going to be my default mail program when I'm away from home. The lack of understanding of what users want in an online mail program is mind-boggling. E-mail is the anchor for a service like this.
I don't dislike everything about MobileMe, but I am stunned by what is not included.
Is there an emoticon for "shaking my head is disbelief."

Mobile Me is working here -- on the Web. I haven't got Apple Mail setup yet because I haven't seen the "Mobile Me" option appear in System Settings yet. Using 10.5.4 on a G4 Powerbook. I suppose I'll learn that feature only works on an Intel-based machine?
The Web stuff looks good -- would just like to get Mail setup.
My MBP still won't download the MobileMe update using Software Update and it's not listed on the Apple downloads page yet... Any words of wisdom??

It needs to connect to the store to install the update? Are you kidding me?

Same thing happened to me. I went away, left the phone connected to the computer, and ten minutes later it still said "error connecting to iTunes store". I unplugged it and it was in emergency only mode. Repeated, left it plugged for longer, saw the same error, but when I unplugged this time it said that the phone was activated. Seems to work fine, except when I plug into the computer the phone shows up in the source list of iTunes but the right hand panel is blank and the status at top says "connecting to iTunes store" but it never does. I downloaded Remote and by right clicking on the phone in the source list I could choose sync and the app went onto the phone (Remote is wonderful by the way).
I still cannot get SW update to give me the OS update for mobile me, so I cannot try any of the new push stuff. Has everybody else gotten the SW update?
I signed up for a trial account to try this out. Push e-mail currently does not work.
