And now for something completely different...
Greetings, TUAW readers. Allow myself to introduce...myself. My name is Kent Pribbernow - a freelance web designer and tech writer hailing from Fort Wayne Indiana - a land of corn fields, lake resorts, Amish buggies, and deadly turnip bombs. As a long time blogger, I have written about all things Apple with passion and enthusiasm, minus the Kool-Aid and mock turtleneck. Now I join the TUAW team in delivering you the best Apple coverage anywhere. I look forward to your comments, and most of all filling your RSS reader with lots of great content. Keep reading.

Welcome! Maybe you can explain to the TUAW designers that users shouldn't have to block the gigantor background image in order to scroll smoothly.
(My iMac Aluminum with the 256MB Graphics card and 4GB of Ram stutters like hell when I unblock the background image.)

What browser are you using? My presumably slower (unless yours is the low end of the initial release) 2.33 GHz MBP has no trouble with it. My experience has been that Firefox chokes up on smooth scrolling, so that may be why you're having trouble. Do you get the same thing in WebKit based browsers?

I have no problem scrolling. I'm using Firefox 2.0.something, whatever the last version was. I do use adblock, but I haven't had to block the background image. Original MacBook, 1.83ghz/2gb/Intel GMA950 graphics.

You going to IWU? I went there ages and ages ago, when it was just Marion College, before we got a president with an ego problem and they got all uppity. :)

Yeah, I'm majoring in Computer Graphics.
The new President there isn't so bad. Everyone says he's better than the previous. heh

I'm an Apple user and an avid TUAW reader from Fort Wayne, Indiana! It's great to see someone onboard with TUAW from the lovely Three Rivers city of Fort Wayne!
By the way, I knew this article was posted from my RSS feed reader within the Mail app. I can't wait to read articles from a Fort Wayne native!

Welcome! If your writing style from your blog carries over it looks like great things are in store for TUAW.
And technically you HAVE written about the Kool-Aid, but that's just being me being picky. :)
