Possible leaked iPod nano case shows new design
According to our sister site, Engadget, a leaked iPod nano case shows a new design that is completely different than the current nano. All this comes after Kevin Rose, of Digg fame, created a rumor that among other things, a new iPod nano might be coming in September. Beelan, a Chinese accessory maker apparently has a case ready for shipping via Alibaba. The design of the 4th generation iPod nano would appear to have a curved face and might return to its roots with a long, slender design.
What do you think? Is this real, or fake? Be sure to sound-off in the comments.

Can people stop giving Kevin Rose credit for this rumor?

What's wrong with giving credit the first place you read about it, assuming they didn't already credit a specific source too?
If it's true, isn't it likely that as we near September, more people will start talking about it independently?
Kevin has talked about Apple rumors in the past. No reason to believe he stole credit here.

I Think this could go either way but i think this is a design pattern that they would go with. Lets see???

ive seen a 2g not 3g nano knockoff with the bigger screen so im guessin this is maybe a knockoff case for a knockoff nano. what do you think?

Who in their right minds would look at a knock-off of a different shape to an apple or creative product and go yes, I'll go for that tiny market. Suggests real.
Although why apple are pissing about with the design of the nano is beyond me.

I think they're selling iPod mini cases.

I kinda doubt they're going to do much to the current Classic or Nano besides upgrade the capacity.

Then you must be new to this. Upgrading capacity would cannibalize other iPod sales, and that would be kind of silly. The iPod Nano will definitely see a redesign, but these mockups are dumb.

Pompous a-hole.

The long slender design makes sense. 'Fatboy' isn't exactly a positive name.
However, the pictures of the case on Engadget show a mini-USB plug. There is no way Apple will divert from the 30 pin dock connector any time soon. Sure mini USB isn't proprietary, but there's just too many accessories for the 30 pin connector.

As many people have posted on Engadget, the other case render that has been released has a mini-USB hole in it. That right there makes this redesign a fake and Kevin Rose wrong yet again. Stick to Digg, Rose.

This is probably the 3rd or 4th time i've seen this design, so it's probably true. You'd think Apple would do something more, unified.

Totally agree with Josh why would apple change the dock connector to a mini usb port this would kill all accessories that are out for the iPod and Apple would lose out on a lot from there iPod dock usage right sorry i just don't see it happening but most of all i don't want a zune knock off i like the current models form factor

The period is to the right of the comma. Oh, and the comma is next to the M.

Fake. Don't think Apple would have a design like that. Those cases look cheap anyway :P

Also, look at the pics on Engadget.
iPod nano with Mini-USB? I don't think so.
Willson said 12:55AM on 8-25-2008
If it is real, it looks like they're going to use the 8GB Zune kind of design where you turn it sideways for videos, Only sexier.

I don't think it is a knock-off because knock-offs usually have hideous and stupid designs. This doesn't look so bad.
As for the 3D rendering Engadget has up, that may be real, despite the fact that it features a mini USB outline on the bottom. Does anyone remember the 3D renderings of the iPhone 3G that went around before the its announcement? (http://images.macrumors.com/article/2008/05/28/111934-griffinmold-lg3.jpg)
