Hello Bill,
Yeah I had the same problem. Didn't see the fix the first time I read the instructions. Here's the link Topspinserve posted after his first post:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=17C36612-632E-4C04-9382-987622ED1D64&displaylang=en
You need to install before you use with XP or Vista.
I am having the same problem as topspinserve had on september 9 - his problem was on Vista - I have the same problem in Windows XP - the IP address is not valid.
Advice?
so let me get this straight... you need to be on a wifi network for Air Sharing to work, right?

Funny how I can take an mp3, dump it on my iPhone via Air Sharing and then listen to it. I can also access my iPhone from Firefox on my MacBook and listen to the music back--I think I can even download it back.
Why isn't the way iPhones worked with music period? Wouldn't that be nice? Of course, it doesn't support m3u so I'm guessing that if it did, the App Store would have rejected it.
I think the only other thing I'd like from Air Sharing (aside from m3u support) is the ability to connect to the iPhone *with* a wire, for not only the previously-commented reasons, but also to increase transfer speeds.
Oh, and the ability to move files and create directories on the iPhone would be great, too.
I've been using it since last night, and I love the app.
The best part is.. IT'S FREE!!!!
Personally, I think giving something away for free for a limited time period as a promotion is a fantastic way to generate word of mouth, and I'm going to take advantage of this as all the reviews I've read so far sound great.
However, wasn't it TUAW that raised a big stink a while back accusing App Store developers of playing games with free for a while then charging to get themselves up into the paid apps top listings? C'mon TUAW, be consistent - you either think it's a bad practice, or you don't; or is the fact that they're advertising it will go up in price the factor that makes it okay this time around?
Thanks TUAW for the insight on another GREAT App! :D
September 09 2008 at 5:51 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThey called it "promotion" I call it "top payed chart" scam!
Give it for free then put convert in paying apps and boom, you are in the top of the charts... BULLSHIT!
Its a bit dodgy getting to the top of the charts like this, but we profit from it by getting these apps for free. :)

Like ipodrulz said, a way to mail out documents once they're in your "library" would make it the killer app. That's my only feature request- that, and allowing it to be "discovered" like Bonjour connected, shared computers (or drives). You put those things on it, and you've got a hands down winner.
