FrontRow 2.1.6 is available
The updates keep coming out of Cupertino this morning. iTunes, QuickTime and now Front Row. Version 2.1.6 adds iTunes 8.0 compatibility and "...bug fixes." This update is just over 13MB. Short and sweet. Get it via Software Update now. We didn't find anything obviously new with this release, but let us know if you do.

Does this fix the problem where album art wouldn't load over shared libraries? Please say yes.

Indeed - I find it curious as to why Front Row won't work with movie rentals. I mean, that's exactly what you want to use to watch them, just like watching them on an AppleTV.

OK, why does Album Artwork still not work when viewing shared libraries?! This hasn't been working for over a year and I've called Apple about it twice, and was told it's a known issue.
What exactly is so hard about getting it working? It doesn't make any sense

WARNING: If you upgrade to iTunes 8, it won't play your purchased music without this Front Row update!

Well big surprise this /still/ doesn't fix the problem where Frontrow reports "Your computer isn't connected to the Internet" when you try to watch movie trailers

It's exactly the same, as is expected from AAPL as they are now taking the Sarbanes-Oxley act to heart. They won't make it better by adding new features without charging for it.
Front Row still doesn't have compilations to the Artists list, which means that the list is OVER 9000 long. This makes Front Row (and AAPL TV) unusable for music.

Doesn't seem to have fixed the incredibly annoying bug that separates out every season of a TV show into its own top level entry in the TV Shows list. If you have, say, a long-running show like "Doctor Who" you have to scroll through 30 instances of it, and it doesn't bother to put season numbers on them. Just the title of the show over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over until it is a total pain in the ass.
AppleTV seems to be able to deal with this, why not Front Row on the computer where the content resides??

Aperture support. At last.
Go to Settings and change "Photo source".

Podcasts that have downloaded in the background while Front Row is active still don't show up in the Podcasts area. You have to exit and reopen Front Row for them to appear.

Still has the issue where the Photos mode plays back any camera-videos in the selected album as a blank screen. Ideally I'd like it to play them back as part of the Event/Album, but I'd settle for it just ignoring them like iPhoto does.

The above reasons are why I left Front Row and solely use Plex as my media centre. It plays everything I throw at it without hesitation. It does take awhile to set up but once its done you will never go back.
