iTunes 8: Ready for download
Many new iPod related announcements occurred at the "Let's Rock" event today, but Apple also updated the software that powers all of those inventions: iTunes. iTunes 8 includes many new features, and it's now available for download. While iTunes isn't yet showing up in Software Update, you can download it straight from Apple's website. So, go ahead, download iTunes 8 and wow yourself with the new features (and don't forget to check out the new visualizer). Update: As you might expect, the new iTunes requires QuickTime 7.7.5 for video playback -- get them both.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

Jeez. I've had it for about a half hour now.

Sorry to hijack your thread here, but I wanted to post this from farther down in the comments:
For all you people complaining about the arrows, follow this link. Yes, it's more Terminal fun. Yes, this should have been an option in iTunes. It'll probably be back in 8.0.1. Meanwhile, just do what Rob Griffiths says:

Serious bug if you have multi-displays. Anytime you click on iTunes if its on another monitor, the window will go on your original working monitor. I'm on my MacBook and I always have iTunes on a separate display and everytime I click on it, it starts to cover everything I'm working on, on my main screen. Frustrating! I smell 8.0.1 in a few days.

Huh...didn't happen for me. Anyone else getting this behaviour? Definitely report this to Apple.

Very annoying features:
Can't seem to turn off the Genre column in browse mode anymore.
Can't seem to turn off the iTunes store links next to artist's names in my library anymore.

I know! it's terrible! also, the little store arrows next to the songs are just there, and you can't turn them off as you once could... I think these two things making this a very bad release...

Hope this finally restores Album Artwork on FrontRow via shared libraries.

Unfortunately HD movie downloads/rentals on a computer using iTunes aren't yet available, or so it seems. HD content certainly gives using the iTunes Store an advantage above pirating movies.

Apart from turning them on with command-T, I can't seem to do anything with them, so it's the exact same thing time after time. Is there a list of keys to press to control it?

With the visualizer open, tap the question mark key on the keyboard and you will be presented with some options to control it.

Ah! the one key I *didn't* hit! :) Thanks!

iTunes 8 is good so far but only two things are annoying me. I can't seem to find a way to disable the iTunes store links when going through my library. Also I wish they worked multi-touch into browing the itunes music store. I use it all the time in Safari and wish I could swipe to go back...

Upon installing iTunes 8, I got greeted by an error message and now it won't open up at all. Sorry for the self promotion, but I posted a screen cap on my blog: http://www.eurotransient.com
Anyone else have this issue or am I alone here?

Scratch that, got it working, issue was totally unrelated to iTunes.

You should post what the problem is in case others have it.
