Terminal Tips: Stop Safari "saved text" dialogs
We're continuing with Safari hacks for today's Terminal Tip. Have you ever typed text on a web page, but then realized that you want to go to another page without saving your input? However, when you close the window or tab, Safari rudely tells you that you have saved text and if you navigate away, your changes will not be saved. While these dialogs can be useful, most of the time they're annoying. If you want to get rid of them, just type in this Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/) command and press enter:
defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugConfirmTossingUnsubmittedFormText NOYou will no longer see the dialog when you have typed text on a page and want to navigate away. To reverse the command, replace "NO" with "YES."

I'd advise not to change this setting, because it can be the only way to not lose everything you were typing, if another application (Like Onyx, for exemple) tries killing Safari and you only have on tab open...
But thanks for the heads up !

Thank you! That is my most hated dialog box.

"Safari rudely tells you"
C'mon, give me a break. It's a dialog box. If anything, it's useful when you have ten tabs open and perhaps got up to do something and forgot you were writing a comment on TUAW.

This really should be a preference setting.

Is there a similar way to kill the "Are you sure you want to send a form again?" notices? It is by far the most annoying thing about Safari. I have no clue why some sites trigger it and some don't - but I hate it.
I've googled around for it, but there's no elegant solution 'default write' like the above, it seems.
This too should be a pref setting.
