Friday App Store Deals

It looks like developers are really catching on to the "give it away or lower the price to drive up user rankings" game. Here are a few last-second deals that you'll want to check out at App Store.

Cro-Mag Rally
Pangea has dropped the price on its premiere racing game down to just $1.99. This sale is for a limited time, and while it affects the other Pangea titles as well, Cro-Mag offers the best deal of the bunch.

Poptiq
Poptiq delivers personalized video streams to your iPhone or iPod touch. Over time, it customizes itself to your likes and dislikes, so you don't have to wade through videos that aren't to your taste. You can download a free copy of Poptiq until September 25. Read more at the Poptiq website.

I had to get this one as soon as I heard of it. $1.99 is an impulse buy. Guys at TUAW should make this App Store Deals a fixture.

I've been eyeing Cro-Mag for a while and at $1.99, I can't refuse!

I'm having trouble accessing the App Store via WiFi on my iPhone this morning (ditto the iTunes Store). Anyone else having problems?

Thanks for the tip! I bought it too -- the developer actually gains by doing this. I probably wouldn't have bought before because there is so much choice out there!

I tried this with My Eyes Only, a secure info application, and I got the same response from my customers, complaining about the price drop. I dropped from 9 to 7 dollars. MEO received a bad review because of the perceived loss of two whole dollars. Never mind the fact that when they purchased they felt it was worth 9 dollars.
Good luck to the price droppers. I hope they recover the income by getting more sales.

Thank you for tips like this! I have little time to go wading through the titles in the app store. They've made another sale.

I love these types of deals, they have lead me to buy a number of games that I was hesitant to check out. I hope you guys will continue to keep an eye on App Store "Sales" and let us know about them. I would never have paid $10 for Cro-Mag Rally, but I'm really enjoying it at $2! I did the same when Billy Frontier debuted at $3 instead of its later price of $6. I think Apple ought to set aside a "Sale" section for app store deals like these, but then again I'm sure that would start being gamed (Developers debuting at high prices so that they could go on "Sale" for their intended price, and so on.)

Same here... I'd never pay $10 for Cro-Mag Rally, but $1.99 is below its value so heck ya! :) Plus, Enigmo at $4.99 is a good deal... Wish it was $3.99... but I'm just cheap! ;) hehe

I just bought Billy Frontier. Makes me made when I buy something and then they reduce the price.

That's life I suppose.
