Apple's UK Back to School promo starts, gives away new nanos, touches
Apple has started their Back to School promotion in the UK. It is similar to the Back to School promo that ran in the US, with the exception of people in the UK being able to get one of the new iPods that released at last week's iPod event. This promotion is good on the purchase of any new Mac and iPod nano (or touch). Qualified purchasers are "student[s] at a higher education institution, a teacher or a lecturer." When you purchase your new Mac and an iPod nano, or iPod touch, Apple will give you up to £95 via a rebate check. This deal ends October 31, 2008.
You can visit Apple's UK website for more details. Do you plan on purchasing a new Mac in order to get a new iPod nano or touch? Which iPod would you choose? Be sure to take part in our poll!
Thanks, Dan!

I'd get the ipod nano. Not beause it's "Cute" but because it has tactile controls.

I'd get the Nano because I have an iPhone, and no sense in duplicating what I already have.

I know the polls you guys post are basically just a dishonest dodge to drive hits and comments, but could you once in while provide an actual poll? It would single you out as one of the better sites instead of just dredging the bottom of the barrel like you are now.
I guess you can claim to be more better journalists than Engadget, but really ... aren't you interested in setting your sights a bit higher than that? It's like George Bush claiming he is more honourable than Robert Mugabe. An accurate, but marginal claim at best.

Apple are not likely to launch new MacBooks and MacBookPros before the 31st of October. It looks like a November launch now.

I wouldn't worry about MacBook's being delayed. If you do your research, you'll find that the aluminium iMac came out in the middle of the back to school UK promo last year, and was included in the deal. I have the evidence sitting on my desk, and I intend to pick up a MacBook in the same way this year.
Therefore, still expect MacBook's before October is out.

Same thing happened the year before with the Core 2 Duo iMacs. I ordered the old one the day before the new ones were announced, Apple automatically upgraded me and I essentially got an extra gigabyte of RAM and upgraded processor for free!

I am waiting for the new ibooks, so I'll have to wait a little longer pity I couldn't get a nano along with it.

This deal is also available in the German store: http://www.apple.com/de/backtoschool/index.html?cid=WWW-EUDE-BTS20080916-JVS5D
You get up to 125 EUR if you buy a Mac and an iPod. I guess the promo is also available in other European countries.
