Apple posts "Notebook" keynote event video
If you've been reading TUAW today, you already know all of the exciting news from today's event. However, some people would rather hear it straight from Steve's mouth instead of reading the "spoilers," so here's your chance. Apple just posted the keynote video for the Apple Special Event.
You can watch the keynote here, or wait for Apple to update the Keynotes podcast [iTunes Link] soon with the new video. It's 53 minutes long, so be sure to lock the door and put up the "Do Not Disturb" sign for the full hour.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

Color me totally underwhelmed. Instead of refreshing the macbooks, they splintered the product line, didn't bother to name the new splinter, and gouged on what should have been freebie upgrades to the product.
sigh.
Also, not too impressed on the small amount of memory and drive space all across the board. I'm really tired of Apple gouging on pathetically cheap upgrades.

They changed the case, upgraded from integrated graphics to NVIDIA chips, added an LED screen and your underwhelmed? I'd hate to ask what you deemed a "worthwhile" upgrade. 3 blu ray drives and a popcorn maker?

this could be useful.... if i keep watching it, maybe one of these times they'll announce a netbook.
... or at least i can put the part about the "nascent market" for these on loop, while i decide if i seriously want to buy a PC again after all these years, as that's the only ultraportable option available.

I can't wait to get a look at one, but for most existing MacBook users there probably isn't much need to upgrade until these things start shipping with Snow Leopard installed, unless you're desperate for some gaming action.

Weird, I can't resize the Quicktime window. When I try it'll crash Quicktime. I've never had this happen before.

Found out what it was. The newest version of Perian was preventing the Quicktime window from resizing, so it'd crash. Little bug in Perian I see.

Ahhh I wasn't the only one ! Yes I have Perian too.
I just watched the video in full screen and it worked.

One of the best things to come out of the update (IMO) is knowing the previous gen Macbook Pros are roughly 20% cheaper than they were yesterday.

$400 rebate on my 10-day-old MacBook Pro, hurray!
Apple store manager promised he'd match the price drop when the new models are introduced, so I'm off for my rebate today.
While the new models look terrific, I've been bitten twice before by Rev A products from Apple, so no more bleeding-edge early-adopting for me. Of course, dropping the matte display from the MacBook Pro also reinforces my satisfaction with the old model.

It's nice to see that Apple has the Quicktime video of the keynote up so fast.
BTW, does anybody else think it's time for Apple to update Quicktime so that you can embed a video on a website with a "expand to fit the screen" option like ALL OTHER VIDEO players have?
