Apple to open 250th retail store
When Apple opens a new retail store, they typically mark the occasion with an opening day giveaway and free T-shirts. The story will be different in Modesto, California when Apple Store Vintage Faire opens on Saturday, November 14th at 6:00 PM Pacific.Apple Store Vintage Faire will be Apple's 250th retail store, and they're celebrating with a week of special events, including classes, workshops, presentations and more, all free of charge. As usual, visitors who show up on opening day can grab a free T-shirt and register for the grand opening giveaway.
Apple Store Vintage Faire is located in the Vintage Faire Mall, at 3401 Dale Rd in Modesto, between Coach and Bebe. You'll find full travel directions here. It sounds like fun, so let us know if you attend.
A week of free events is cool and all, but for my money, you can't beat hula dancers.

There's going to be an Apple Store at CityNorth in Phoenix, AZ, opening in Fall 2010 in the 54th Street district. This might be the second Apple store with the giant glass block (like New York City's). Want to prove it? The diagram will prove you.

Apple does do their Homework, they look at the average disposable income and property values of the zip code and that's where the put Apple Stores.
There's 4 Apple stores within a 15 mile radius of where I live.
Nice backdoor bragging.

November 12 2008 at 8:07 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI love how I sent you guys a tip about the opening of Apple's latest retail store opening in Miami and it wasn't reported.
November 12 2008 at 7:31 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThere are still states that don't have a single Apple Store :(
November 12 2008 at 6:04 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThis is absolutely fantastic news for the Central Valley. The nearest Apple Store is currently well over an hour away from Stanislaus County.
The Apple Store is going to be a part of the new, outdoor wing of the Vintage Faire Mall that will open on Nov. 14 as well. There's a new BJ's Pizzeria there, if anyone's in the mood for some beer and deep dish after buying their Apple goodies.
It's hard to believe that little ol' Modesto will be home to Apple's 250th store, but it's great to see. Good luck to all the other Apple deprived areas; hopefully you won't have to wait for a mall expansion to see Apple move in there too.
Agreed, one should definitly be around the UCity area. The store at Penn is only and authorized retailer. An actual store would be much nicer. Another logical place to have one would be down near rittenhouse on chestnet where all the other real shopping stores are. Driving all the way to Ardmore, KOP, or into Jersey is really annoying.

November 12 2008 at 1:31 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyStill waiting for one in Wichita, KS, closest is a 2 1/2 hour drive away. :-/
November 12 2008 at 2:18 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI don't know what Apple is waiting for. A city the size of Philly should have at least two store in the city.
I think one should be in the University City between UofP and Drexel.
The Independence Mall area and Rittenhouse Square are the two other logical spots.
Or just drop one next to ground zero, city hall on the Avenue of the Arts.
The northern and eastern suburbs also aren't gettin any Apple Retail love.
Montgomeryville or Willow Grove would be nice for the burbs.
Apple should really open up Starbucks within their stores. Then while people wait for their appointments at the Genius bar they can get a cup of joe :D
Im sure it would rake in a lot of money as well... like everything else about Apple...
Well, it does cater to the target demographic. Even one of those little Starbucks Coffee Vending machines would be nice. Although, I have to say, waiting for an appointment in an Apple store isn't exactly "torture" its like waiting in a Candy Store for a dentist appointment.
