Apple releases Safari 3.2.1

Apple just updated Safari to version 3.2.1. According to Software Update, "This update includes stability improvements and is recommended for all Safari users." Apple updated Safari only a few weeks ago, adding protection from phishing websites.

If you've been paying attention to the Apple updates this week, then you know that they've done some heavy updating in this area. The past few days have seen updates to iPhone/iPod touch, iTunes, Apple TV, Pro Applications, Trackpad, and QuickTime.

You can get the Safari update, or any other updates you might be missing, by opening Software Update (Apple menu > Software Update). You can also download the installer packages from the Apple Support Downloads website.

Thanks to monu, and others for the tips!

Um... Any code, even Frameworks, that are used by multiple Applications should be part of a System Update, not an Application Update. If Applications can use separate Frameworks, let them use them separately and not require a re-boot. Why disguise a System Fix as an Application Fix? Not the most 'transparent' way to do things. If something goes wrong everyone would assume the trouble was with Safari, when it is actually a System Function. Not good. What else is Apple hiding?

I have also been using DP4 of Safari and I have been really happy with it, especially with the Javascript engine. That is the bomb!!

Now that I've installed the update, my Safari is now crashing every time I try to even open tabs. Help?

Reinstall? (This is a bit tricky if you don't have another browser with which to download the package again.)

I am enjoying Safari 4. I am having some trouble with flash content though.

I hope version 4 will make Safari less memory hungry. At the moment, compared to firefox, it's a huge memory hog.

And when will we ever get the option to add a simple 'new tab' button? This is something i've wanted for years.

and Command-T is easy enough if you (like me) dont have the tab bar open all the time.

(thanx for the dbl-click hint, i never knew that one!)

I hate having to restart my iMac for something I never use because it's crap compared to Firefox.

Nothing you use uses WebKit? You're restarting because WebKit has also been updated.

This new version of Safari feel more stable and a tiny bit faster but cant wait till Apple releases a public beta of Safari 4 hopefully before the end of the year.
