(yawn) Best Buy is already doing $100-$150 off their Macs until Wednesday, and their free Reward Zone rewards card should give you 2% back . . . I doubt the Apple Store's deals will be better on computers, but I'm waiting on iPhone deals . . .

Has anybody ever seen Macbooks go on sell on a black Friday special?

Old model MacBooks on sale, yes. Doubtful the new ones will be on sale.
Guessing that this will be as disappointing as last year.

One free Zune with iPod purchase!
(Give it to that person you dislike at work.)

Meanwhile, Amazon consistently offers $75 and $150 rebates on all Apple computers, and when you combine that with free shipping and no tax, you can save about $500 or so.
But please, let's all wait for Apple to offer some measly discount, by all means.
Do some research, people.
I guess math is hard, though.

But being condescending and rude is easy!

Isnt amazon like where you can get a damaged or pre-used one, what if i want a new one???
Andy said 2:06PM on 11-25-2008
1. Apple has free shipping
2. Amazon has a new macbook for $30 bucks cheaper than Apple...
So you save $30 bucks and no tax. Where so you get $500 dollars out of this?

If you live in Chicago, tax *is* a pretty big hit to a purchase.

OK, applying this to a MacBook Pro, $1999. Tax savings in California is $165. Right now Amazon is selling this machine for $1965, $35 less than Apple's price. So that's $200. AND there's a $100 rebate. So that's $300 (not $500) less than the $2164 you'd pay buying from Apple. You cannot deny that's a significant savings. Obviously it'll vary depending on where you live, but still... saving money is a good thing, right?

Keep in mind, for all of us cool kids that live in Washington, there IS tax on Amazon.

Arghh this sucks, I need to buy my wife a computer, and *gulp* I've been looking at PC's to replace my old 12in ibook hand-me-down that shes been using.. the PC deals on laptops are amazing especially for 10in net books and the dell vostro, I desperately want to see them drop $200 or 300 on the laptops,,,(lets face it they knock a hundred off for students everyday) but all the early pc sales end wednsday.. arghh! ( I have $200.00 dollars from the apple store (iphone rebates) to spend,, so 200 plus 200+ off I can get a mac for the same price as those pc's) I'm definitely at a loss, I really hate to wait until that day and then see apple give a crap deal as they have in the past.

Buying a Dell at anytime for any amount is always a "crap deal", agreed?
iabsolutelydespisemicrosoft said 2:23AM on 11-26-2008
agreed.

*I* would agree.. but my wife could care less about the computer and macs tend to frustrate her, so price is the only factor I have at my disposal to switch her. She's been unhappy lately with my little ibook (which I loved, but it's pretty beaten up at this point) I need to get her over the "windows withdrawal"... but it's hard when she works in ms office on a pc all day for work.

Voted down because you're depressing me.

My wife hates having to use my MacBook. I really don't care what kind of computer she uses, as long as she doesn't try to make me use a PC. :)

If I recall correctly, Apple did this last year. It was a fancy mini-store "gift guide" that pushed refurbs and clearance "deals" (ie, stuff that is always on sale) and there no actual deals on any new equipment that Apple wasn't already offering.
Note that the ad states "gift ideas." Not "deals" or "special offers."
You're better off lining up for B&M Black Friday deals than hoping for anything special from Apple.
