Black Friday: Best Buy discounting up to $150 off, Apple retail will match prices
AppleInsider, MediaBistro and more are all pointing to some sweet Best Buy discounts on Apple products for Black Friday weekend that include laptop and desktop computers. Sale prices are good online and in-store.
Best Buy apparently stocked up on inventory to support the event. Apple employees will also be staffing Best Buy locations to push sales. The four-day sale extends from Sunday until Wednesday. (Thanks, Michel.)
Also of note: Apple retail stores will match other authorized retailers' advertised prices. According to ifoAppleStore, if you supply proof of the competitor's pricing (like Best Buy's circular), Apple retail employees have the authority to approve a discount matching that price.
If that weren't enough, as Cory mentioned earlier, Apple will also be having its own online Black Friday promotion.
After the jump, discounts ahoy!
All due credit to AppleInsider for this list of products (and their prices after discount in parentheses).

Now, can you combine the price match with a student discount in an Apple store?

I even work there, and *I* can't get that.

Uh, where did you get that Best Buy logo from? o_O

It's their new "we're generic just like everyone else" logo – new stores are getting branded with it.
More classy, less recognizable – just like Walmart's new look.

Yeah, I just found a bazillion design blogs about it.
I was more interested in the font (Klavika it seems), as I routinely make custom signage at work, and was getting sick of using Futura when the flyers had already switched to Klavika.

I'd be pretty cautious about what you say on here if you're an Apple employee.

$100 off a $2700 laptop, what an insult.

Look, I'm sorry to be that guy... but these Apple mark-downs are, for the most part, chump change. Sure, $50-$150 bucks is still $50-$150 bucks, but you're still going to need at least $1000 or more to enjoy the savings - which when speak relatively, are low.
In this economy, you're hurting, you're getting by, or you're doing well... just like any other day. But in this economy, $50-$150 bucks is only a bonus if you were already in the market and could afford it. It's not driving in a sale from someone who wasn't originally looking to buy... unless of course you're hurting for cash and slightly foolish; otherwise at best it's just a bonus push for borderliners on the decision to buy anyway.
I'm sorry, but being harsh is being real when we're suffering a nasty turn in the economy. Extemporaneous spending is what got us here in the first place - if $100 changes your mind about buying a $2000 laptop, you might want re-evaluate your financial perspective.
On the other hand - if this is the only bone Apple is going to throw us aside from their regular sales incentives, fine. It's not tempting me though - a nice percentage off an AppleTV or Mini might be a different story.

I just bought a MacBook pro through my school. I have been a PC user for my entire life. Spending alot of time on the go these days and the need to run higher end software I was in the market for a laptop. I am the type who spend up front and makes the investment. I am not a "throw away" every 2 years kind of gal. Fearful of "jumping ship", and cost being being a factor, I went with a dell studio 15 "full loaded". I recieved 3 (due to failure) in one month. Vista issues and countless hours on the phone w/ tech support, remote tech. service, and on HOLD. What I now refer to as "dell he**", after all that I was ready. Quite frankly I have to buy a program for everything I do, and the PC was giving me problems keeping everything compadible.
I do have to say it took me going on Apple.com every day for a week, building the system, and putting it in my shopping cart. I even went as far as putting in CC info and chickening out right before I clicked buy. But I finally did it.
With the 3 yr warranty, 2.8G intell dual core processor, 4GB mem, 320 GB HD @ 7200 rp & my student discount (approx. 500.00) it was just under 3000.00. And the best, and a contender for the nicest, thing I have ever bought myself. I have even gotten the bill for it and the novelty has NOT worn off. (Which was the case with my new car I had to have). I LOVE IT. I opend the box so carefully not to rip any paper. Like savoring a good chocolate, I didn't tear though it like a kid on Christmas Day, but every bit and piece I held and touched... savored... When I finally put it on my lap I knew immediately this was the right choice. This thing is solid as a rock!!!
It has already made my life more streamlined having everything in the same place. I planned on loading XP pro on it as well, but would not even think of tainting my machine with something so inferior. Apple's software is so far superior to that of windows and mac writes all the "productivity" software I need to manage school, business & personal use. I use the iwork applications and PDF them for all of my school/ business work. It is taking some time to get aquatinted to, but have invested in the one-on-one service apple offers (approx. $100 for the year). The mobile me applications is great to. I do need to have windows somewhere for my autocad & engineering programs I run, and have decided to invest in a mac pro where I can run windows on its own separate hard drive. I HAVEN'T touched my PC since I recieved my mbp!! I was getting some files off of it the other day and was disgusted. I can't even stand it.
I was going to pay the mbp off and then by a mac pro w/ a 30" display. I can't wait and have bought it for myself for Christmas.
all that said If your use does not exceed listening to music, downloading pictures, basic web surfing & email or you want a "throw away" I understand not want to spend in the uppers of 3g for a computer. If you are an electronics junkie like myself it is worth the money every day of the week and twice on Sunday!!!

Any guesses on when the next refresh/speed bump might be? I'm trying to decide if I want to get a 2.4 Macbook now, or wait until the end of Q1 and get it with Snow Leopard already included, and hopefully a little processor bump.
Thoughts on a date? Macworld Expo in January? Later?
Seeking Wisdom....

Since they were just refreshed last month, it'll be spring at the earliest, more likely mid-summer for MacBook updates. Here's a good place to check when you are thinking about buying:

I called Apple and asked about any discounts/promotional offers and after some talking and waiting they gave me a $150 discount on a new unibody MacBook just for being courteous on the line. And I was also able to get another $50 off for being a student so in the end my MacBook was 1099.

GET IT RIGHT, IT'S SUNDAY THE 23RD THROUGH WEDNESDAY THE 26TH, not Black Friday, that Best Buy is offering these deals! And why mention what the Apple Store will do to match it without also mentioning other resellers - why is there this inherent bias? Whatever happened to "fairness and accuracy in reporting"?! From my standpoint as a journaliist, sometimes the blogosphere needs to be taught a little more intellectual rigor . . .

Thanks Michel, I added your note about the dates to the post. We'll have more news about holiday discount deals with other retailers as we learn them. And thanks for being so nice in your comment! I love you.

Kill them with kindness.

So I just bought a new 2.4GHz 20" iMac a week and a half ago. I know Apple offers a 3 week(maybe 2?) price match guarantee type thing for new product releases, do you think it will count for this as well? I would love to get $100 back from them!

As others have eluded, $100 discount on a $2000 laptop is neither "aggressive" nor worth "staying tuned for." I can get better discounts by haggling with PC manufacturers.
$50 discount on a Mac mini? So near yet so far. Apple could easily afford to knock $100 off the price for their one-day marathon and in doing so would shift more units than anticipated by any slimey-palmed Wall Street Journal(ist).
And what about the Apple TV? It seems all but forgotton by every blog reporting this story.
The discounts are mediocre, not aggressive and will not cause me to part with my money. If the discounts were genuinely aggressive; ie. $599 down to $350, I'm sure like many others I would be more willing to open my wallet.
