iPod touch ad puts a new slant on things
TBWA/Media Arts Lab created a spiffy new online ad for the iPod touch: it plays around with objects on the Yahoo! Games page as the ad plays. It's not unlike the Nintendo "Wario Land" YouTube video that has the same effect.
AdAge notes that Apple has been clever about creating media-rich online advertising, including the New York Times ads that interact with each other, even though they're in different units.

I love this. I loved the Wii ad too, so, bring on more full-page interactive-ness ads! :D

I dunno, this is very much the same idea as the Wario Land YouTube thing from a few months ago: http://www.youtube.com/experiencewii

Did you even bother to read the post? Read the 2nd sentence.

Woah! Don't watch the embedded video. You gotta see it on the Yahoo! page.

The first game that it pauses on is MotoChaser.
Then it goes to Super Monkey ball, then to Labyrinth.
Then CroMag Rally for a split second, before showing the iPod CoverFlow.
When the ad is done, it shows CroMag Rally.

As a web developer, I was really interested to see how they achieved such an effect. The Wario Land one was done with some full-page flash, but this looked a little more interesting, as the navigation links were very obviously HTML links immediately after the ad finished.
I was hoping this would turn out to be some (incredible/crazy) new apple javascript tomfoolery that actually messed with the page.
Nope. It's flash. It's actually drawn over the header, and just disappears the second the ad finishes.

This ad was displayed on the YouTube homepage a few weeks ago, but it didn't interact with the surroundings as much as this one.
