Manage Xbox Live friends with iNXES

iNXES
To accompany the recent Xbox 360 dashboard update, 1337pwn.com released a new version of their Xbox Live friends-management iPhone application. iNXES lets you view your friends list in the NXE form complete with avatars, gamer scores, and online status.

In my testing (on 3G and WiFi), performance was pretty poor. Scrolling through categories or through my friends list was sluggish, and some of my friends' avatars have been updated on Xbox Live but are not showing on iNXES. I was, however, able to see profile data, achievements, and game history.

Unfortunately iNXES (like the previous version) still doesn't support automatic friends list syncing, so you either have to enter all of your gamertags by hand, or use a convoluted import utility (which obviously doesn't keep your list updated if you make changes). Despite the annoyance, the utility did import all of my friends successfully.

iNXES requires the 2.2 firmware, and is free for download in the App Store.

What a mess. Slow, confusing. The swipes flip to the next item instead of sliding, making it weird. You have to exit the app for a lot of things. And it is un-necessarily fancy when it don't need to be when it works this poorly and is implemented in such an inconsistent way.

Hmm, I should post this as a review on the app store.

Now that Microsoft is in the game of making apps, hopefully they'll release an xbox live app. I hope they do, since this app just doesn't cut it. Unfortunately, the developer is stuck, since Microsoft won't open up their closed system to them so that the app is more useful.

I like the new app. Allthough I do agree its quite sluggish and I hate having to go into Safari to send messages where Xbox Live Friends for Mac does this inside the app. Theres alot of room for improvements but they've promised some great new features in the coming weeks with subsequent updates.
