Mac vs. PC - More than meets the eye

We're late to the party on this one, but it absolutely still deserves attention. Created by Nick Greenlee as a short visual effects piece, this video depicts what would happen if Apple and Windows laptops were sentient Transformer robots who wanted to destroy each other.

This could be a whole new spin on the "I'm A Mac" tv ads. What would John Hodgman transform into? I imagine a slide rule functioning as his prime weapon. As for Justin Long ... he'd overwhelm enemies with The Smugness.

Nice work, Nick. It's a great video.

But since when has a PC ever had balls?

This was filmed at the Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg. I graduated from there 5 years ago, and its weird recognizing your school in a you tube video posted on TUAW. Remember these are art students not actors, so I forgive them for that. This is a great visual effects piece, I would sure love to go back and check out Artimation. (A yearly show at the local AMC 30 which showcases students projects on the big screen)

don't think many people will get the "upgrade" to xp part.

i love macs and transformers so this was a treat. Besides the lousy acting, the effects were great though some of the fight sequence should've had some better sound fx for more impact.

didn't like the humanoid forms cos it would be hard to tell what they transformed into if it weren't for us seeing it done

Filmed at an Art Institute somewhere. Pretty impressive compared to some of the other animations coming out of a school that I go to. To bad all it does is spark more Mac vs. PC arguments on Digg and TUAW.

Funny thing. My wife has the same Acer model and I have MBP. Although ours never transformed - we do debate over Mac vs PC.

I thought it was well done as far as the visual effects, but yes the acting was bad. I would like to see a full length movie with some reality in it in that the mac pro easily beats several cheap windows machines. I give in 4 1/2 stares

Hilarious. Saw this yesterday and could not stop smiling. Of course it is in good taste and clean fun.

I don't get it.

I love my Macs, but I've never seen a whole room full of them -- outside of an Apple Store. Five Macs on one PC? I'll never see that in my world.

Anyway, if any of my (5) Mac laptops transformed, they'd fight with cunning and wit -- not with violence.

You should visit a university or high school!
