Rumors swirling around new iMacs
It seems that an upgraded iMac is a shoe-in at Macworld Expo in January. It's a consumer show, and the iMac is Apple's consumer desktop. Plus, it hasn't received a significant change in a while, so it's due. Now that the winter holidays are just about over, the Expo rumors have begun to circulate.AppleInsider has posted a few iMac rumors. First is mention of a new "...magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis," as well as a "cooling module." That's all the details there are, folks, so your guess is as good as ours if the current fan system will be replaced. We all know Steve and Jon Ive like quiet machines.
The more solid rumor is about the new 65W, low-power, quad-core desktop chips Apple is expecting from Intel. Along with Acer, HP and Dell, Apple has decided to make use of these chips, according to DigiTimes, though their target machine has not been identified. DigiTimes claims that these chips are suited to small form factor and all-in-one PCs.

please dont joke about NO FIREWIRE
the lack of FW period is why i wont buy a Macbook...and i cant afford to buy a Pro...
BRING BACK FIREWIRE APPLE!
i'd be impressed if they just gave you a slot to 'hide' your keyboard away.
imagine that - sales would be through the roof then!!!! lol
Current plans:
* Sell old Mini, replace with Mini w/ better GPU and 2GB RAM to run Plex. Keep the FireWire plz
* Sell old 24" iMac, replace with new iMac or Mac Pro with 24" Monitor for photo work and possibly media serving
* Buy new 52" LCD
* Sell old MacBook, replace with unibody MB
* Buy HDMI splitter and RF extender to be able to use the Mini for bedroom and living room
* Buy iPod touch, diNovo Mini or other suitable toy as a remote for Plex
* Buy an EOS 5D Mk II
* Ask government for a bailout
Can we have a 30" iMac quad-core please?

I read that as cooking module and thought maybe we'd finally see the iMac Emeril Edition. Alas, 'twas not to be.
I'm sure that whatever they release will be more than adequate for the needs of most people in the civilised world. As long as it can handle a 200gb iTunes library as easily as it can a 20gb one, I'll be happy.
They will integrate the "built from one slab of aluminum" design and it will be super slim! With quad core processor! Mark my words!

Don't say that, not even in jest!
Bring back the matte!

ahhh...think about that one...it could happen
anybody hear anymore about the mac mini refresh?
