TUAW Macworld Video: HP Products for Mac
If you were one of the many people who were expecting Apple to announce some sort of Mac mini-based home media server yesterday, you weren't alone. We talked about another media server solution, HP's MediaSmart Server, a small Mac-compatible device that can be used for Time Machine backups, iTunes and iPhoto library storage, and more.I visited with Rick Spillers, HP's Mac-connect Worldwide Product Manager, at the HP booth yesterday to talk about HP iPrint, printer and scanner solutions, and other products from their Mac group. Also on the video is Glen Roberts, who discusses the MediaSmart and how it works well in homes with both Macs and PCs.
The video is after the break.

Hey, look at that, another video I can't want on my iPhone! TUAW is the bestest for Apple fans!

wow, bitter aren't we

Not bitter. I'm not the first or only person to complain that an Apple-centric site doesn't embed video that is Apple (and especially iPhone) friendly such as Quicktime or YouTube.
May as well post it as Windows Media.

Why doesn't HP work on and fix their Mac printer drivers for the majority of their printer model offerings before touting new products?

I just tried their little print app for iPhone and it doesn't find my HP printer, which even my Windows machine can find via Bonjour.

I just tried it out and it worked perfectly. It even selects the photo paper. Nice app, has great potential.

So they'll ship a product with software that barely works, then when Apple updates the OS so that HP's software breaks, they'll say tough luck to its customers, orphan the product, and go announce something else. It's HP's way. Why give them money?

What exactly will this do in iTunes? Can I edit my library from my mac still? Could I share one library across two Macs?

Soo sad and poor marketing they haven't tested the server installation with Fusion, Parallells or even BootCamp!
Why not shape up for real and make a genuine Mac-installer, or are those fancy four color catalogs churning up the budget.

If it has Windows on it, forget it. Call me when it has either Linux, Mac OS X, OS/2 (eComStation), Haiku, ANYTHING but Windows. Until then, I'm not and never will be interested.
