Send an audio get-well card to Steve

We'll have more coverage and reactions tomorrow to Apple's announcement this afternoon of Steve Jobs' leave of absence while he tends to his health. While we may have different takes on what the news means for Apple's immediate and long-term prospects, I believe we can all join in wishing Steve a full and speedy recuperation. I'm sure we also all send Tim Cook our hopes for Apple's continued success.

To that end, TUAW wants to give you a voice as part of our audio get-well card to Steve. You can call in your message to our voicemail hotline at (917) 512-7398 x41469, or record it yourself and upload the MP3 or AAC file to our dropbox at http://tr.im/getwell -- we'll edit the messages together for next week's podcast. Be sure to identify yourself on the call.

If you want to do a photo or illustrated card, you can upload it to the same dropbox, or simply tag it with 'tuaw' on Flickr to add it to our pool, and we'll highlight the best in a gallery later this week.

If you're blogging your thoughts on today's announcement and Steve's health as it relates to Apple, feel free to leave a link in the comments.

Hey, Steve...get better soon - and when you come back, can you tell your guys to start building a product (and supporting it) like those you used to build; back when the "Apple tax" actually meant something? I'll start buyin' your hardware again if you do...LMK if you want to reimburse me for my 9-month-old APX that just stopped working, my iPod Touch with a shattered screen that your guys won't repair; but simply offer me a new unit for $250...AGAIN...and hire some staff who actually knows *WHEN* the 17-inch MBP and Snow Leopard will be on the shelves.

Thanks for nothing, and I'm sorry you're sick!

Whoa!

At least men who are gay for Wozniak just crash their Segways into him "by mistake".

Apparently Steve jobs fans (or his would be lovers/stalkers) harass him via iTunes podcast!

I wish Steve will ge well soon as possible. It is not a matter of having Steve to release new innovative products, it is just my wish that a man and his familiy will get back smiling.

He is the most important CEO in US and probably on the planet.

I have a similar problem with my pancreas...so I understand what it means.

Please get better Steve and ciao from an longtime italian Mac user (I still have a 128K Mac)

A little freaky if you ask me since you don't really know him personally, but it's the thought that counts I guess.

Absolutely true. Not only that, Steve Jobs has made a career out of fleecing a particularly small, gullible market segment. It's too bad he doesn't have particularly good business acumen, or MacOS would be on 95% of the world's computers. He's happy lining his pockets with the coins from his sheep, though, and for that they laud him. Interesting, weird, and frail eco-systems he's created at Apple, though.

We wrote our thoughts down at Pixelated Geek:

Really hope Steve manages to check his health problems not only for himself and his family but also to allow him and Apple to have a nice celebratory hand over at some point and not forced and morbid because of illness.

Get well soon Steve
