iLife and iDVD 7.0.3 updates available
Apple just released two new updates for both iLife and iDVD. The iLife Media Browser Update will "improve overall stability and address a number of other minor issues," according to the update page.In addition to the iLife update, Apple also updated the iDVD authoring software. iDVD 7.0.3 "improves overall stability and addresses a number of other minor issues."
Both of these updates are available to iLife '08 users. You can update using Software Update (Apple menu > Software Update) or by downloading the two installer packages from Apple's Support Downloads site. Note that these updates do not affect the newly released iLife '09.
Thanks to Tarun for the tip!

Call me a skeptic, but I think all it does is add that little screen telling you to upgrade to '09.

you must not use it that much because it already does that for me without the update.

There's also an "NVIDIA Graphics Update 2009." It claims to "improve cursor movement when using the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter with the Mini DisplayPort enabled MacBook Air, MacBook and MacBook Pro. It also improves playback of HD video running on systems with NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT or GeForce 9600M graphics."- C&P'ed straight from the Software Update App

The media browser is present in any compatible application (like iWork) or accessible in Leopard from the File Open dialog box in any application, at the bottom of the sources list on the left sidebar.

Did this update remove all login items for anyone else? After installing the updates all my login items were removed.

What is more interesting is the text in the description box of software update.
"....It is recommended for all users of Aperture, iLife '08, and Mac OS X 10.5.6 or later."
Last few words: “.....and Mac OS X 10.5.6 or later.”
10.5.6 is the latest Leopard release so does the “or later” refer to an imminent Snow Leopard release maybe? (or just another x.x.7 update on the cards) Come on Snow Leopard, as soon as you appear I can order my new MacBook Pro!

I wouldn't read much into the "or later". Plenty of system requirements state that to 'future proof' the file.
Seeing as this is likely the *last* update to iLife '08, it has been 'future proofed' for people installing this update today, next year, or whenever in the future.

Didn't Steve already say it's coming out like in, what, June or something?

He said in about a year. Rumored to be Q1 2009 but as with all Apple stuff we'll get it when they're ready to give it to us! I am just really hoping it's soon as I am itching to buy a new MacBook Pro but would prefer to do it with SL pre-installed other wise its another £85 on top of a £1915 Laptop further down the line!

It says this is for only iLife 08, but I have iLife 09 installed... Should I update the iLife Media Browser anyway?

The version of iDVD in iLife 09 IS 7.0.3... Sooo, if all you REALLY want out of iLife 09 is the latest iDVD, just run this update and you've got it :)
