Apple updates GarageBand '09 to 5.0.1, fixes lesson store
Apple just released an update for GarageBand '09 that will fix some problems with the lesson store. According to Apple, "This update improves overall stability and addresses specific issues with downloading lessons from the Learn to Play Lesson Store. It is recommended for all GarageBand 09 users." You can download the update by opening Software Update (Apple menu > Software Update) or by downloading the installer package from the Apple Support Downloads website.
Perhaps this has something do do with the recent uproar about PowerPC Mac being unable to play back certain downloaded lessons from the store. If you are using a PPC Mac and find this update does anything for playback, be sure to let us know in the comments or by dropping us a line!
Thanks, Doug!

Learn to play can work on PowerPC, even without 5.0.1. See,

Still requires a dual-core Intel processor.

Still no fix for the 'wrong mono interface' problem that plagues M-Audio FastTrack users:

Uproar? Has it really become an uproar that a specific feature ( Learn to Play ) of a larger program requires a dual-core Intel-based Mac?
Really? Really??

"..really become an uproar..."
Only if TUAW reports on it. For anthill always read mountain on TUAW.

cory didnt even read the post he linked to.
its not that ppc macs are unable to play certain lessons.. the feature is completely disabled for ppc macs. it even informs you during installation.

It is called progress.
As developers start taking advantage of the superior multi-core processors by Intel there will be a significant divide between PPC supported apps. There is even high probability that Snow Leopard will be Intel only since it's Grand Central jewel is designed for Multi-Core procs.
Should there be an uproar? I say not. Look at what ensuring backward compatibility has done to Microsoft. Not something I want to see happen to Apple.
