MacHeist 3 bundle unveiled

The Heist might be over, but the software saving fun is just beginning! Tonight, the MacHeist 3 bundle was revealed in a geek-star studded live show.

This year's bundle is, from a software perspective, really incredible. I love software bundles because they are a great way to get cool stuff, but the problem is, lots of stuff is frequently repeated across bundles, making it less and less exciting for the more seasoned Mac software-addict. This is not a bundle that can be accused of retreading old software; on the contrary, some new (and high profile) apps are available.

This is the line-up:

It wouldn't be a bundle without unlock incentives, and this year, MacHeist goes all out:

And knowing MacHeist, I'm sure there will be other surprises to come as the sale takes shape.

So the software is hot, how's the price? Try $39 US. Yeah. $39. And if you have participated in any of the puzzles/missions, you probably earned discount coupons to take the price down even lower.

I know people are often weary about buying a bundle that offers software based on sales goals, but let's be serious, the goals will be reached. This is a pretty awesome deal. Head to MacHeist.com to get the MacHeist 3 bundle.

Sales aren't going too well this time around, I'm a little afraid I won't get the two last two apps (Espresso and The Hit List) that were the reason I bought the bundle for. Seeing how slowly even the $400k for BoinxTV accumulates I'm not too optimistic. Fingers crossed though.

I'm always dubious of these bundles – I'd like to get it for Espresso (poor student, can't justify the cost of a straight-up licence), but I've heard of the burns with limited licences in the past and they don't seem to give a definitive answer...

With a MacHeist Bundle, you always get a full license, just as if you bought the app for full price from the Developer.

If you have gotten free apps (loot) by doing the MacHeist Missions, then those free apps sometimes have limited licenses.

How do I get a discount? I'm signed up for the MacHeist web site, but don't know what to actually do.

Stephen,

The 3rd Mission is still open, in the briefings section. I also think the tweetblast is still available. Completing these will get you a discount and some extra free apps. Check the briefings and see what hasn't expired, completing these helps with the discount. Good luck, if you do get a discount.

Buying it for Acorn and The Hit List, and a little bit PhoneView (although, since Boinx is about 40,000 bundles, I can't imagine how many have to sell to unlock Espresso and The Hit List). I am hoping that line around the two means they will be unlocked at the same time.

Perhaps I am missing the obvious here, but what is the difference between the Big Bang Board Games license that comes with the bundle, and what is already on my MacBookPro? (Fall 2008 unibody version) When I attempted to move the downloaded game into my Applications folder, I was told the MacHeist version was older. I've held off on substituting it until I understand what the heck is going on.

Am I just blind? I can't seem to see what the other sales goals are besides the initial $100K for charity one for Wiretap.

I think they deliberately don't say what the next goal is until the previous goal has been met.

This is an awesome bundle. I had no problems purchasing it or getting the apps except for an early hiccup with Phone View. Get in on this now, as it is by far the cheapest bundle with some of the best apps.

Of all the unlocks, actually looking forward to The Hit List most of all. Not a heavy site coder, so Espresso is not a big draw for me personally and I already have Sound Studio (making Wire Tap unnecessary for me).

Oh, and I sent my donation to the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

I've just purchased the bundle but some apps are not showing on my receipt, seems like the MH server was so overloaded it couldn't handle all the requests. But, they're fixing it as we speak, so that's nice.

Well Macheist is not operating very well at the moment. I have only received a couple of apps from the bundle.

Best to wait a while I guess, until it gets sorted.
