iApp updates ready for download

Earlier today, Apple released updates for iWork '09, iWeb, iMovie, iPhoto and iLife Support. As usual, the cryptic descriptions of each disclose very little about their contents. Along with the usual "...overall application stability improvements," the iWeb update fixes FTP issues (what those are we don't know) and iPhoto fixes issues with Faces, Places, photo sharing, and slideshows.

You can grab them now via Software Update. They range in size from 1.4MB (iLife Support) to 88.8MB (iPhoto Update). A restart will be required. As usual, let us know if anything goes wonky after installation.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

I just downloaded the update, restarted my macbook pro and i can't get past the blue screen, i don't even get the login screen. I booted from the disc and repairing disk and permissions as I write this. Hopefully this will fix my problem.

The updates downloaded fine but a dialog box pops up saying 'Please quit iWeb before beginning this update', even though iWeb is not running. I've checked in Activity Monitor. I even launched iWeb, force quit that to double-check that it wasn't running, but found that didn't work. So I force quit the Software Update, but the dialog box keeps popping up! I must have clicked 'OK' on the dialog box about a hundred times. I had to restart my iMac to make it disappear.

Do you multiple users on your computer? Make sure you log out all other users before updating.

I had hoped it would resolve the problem I have had since upgrading to the new iLife syncing photos on to my iPhone and Apple TV.... but it didn't :-( I still get:

iTunes cannot sync photos to the Apple TV (or iPhone) because of a problem on your computer. An unknown error occurred (-50).

Just did this update. Haven't checked what it fixed, but it did change my Time Machine drive permissions to Read Only. Kinda annoying!

Used BatChmod to quickly fix it and Time Machine seems to be working again. (Took me longer to remember what app buried on my laptop was used for changing permissions though.)

C'mon Apple, this is pretty basic yeah?!

According to my father who burns many DVDs via iPhoto, a flaw preventing the burned discs from being read has now been corrected. He had first addressed this with the 5th Avenue Store who verified that there was a software flaw. He called support, was told he would be called back and was called by a senior iPhone support person who told him they had confirmed the disc burning issue and that a fix would be available soon.

Sweet. That's what I love about Apple, the seamless integration of everything :)

Hoping this fixes the faces bug I've experienced. After extensive face work, a subsequent start-up of iPhoto '09 had merged two separate faces under one face name.

....arrhhg

Hope this is the fix.

I have a huge library, and iPhoto seems much much quicker at startup :)

Update went OK. iMovie refuses to start up. Shows up in the dock, and never does anything beyond that. I have to kill the process to make it go away.
