Nambu native Twitter client for Mac

Nambu is a native Mac application designed for multiple social networking services, but in practice it seems like its primary strength is as a Twitter client. It offers support for multiple Twitter accounts, which can in turn be viewed in several different ways. It also integrates support for the tr.im URL shorting service and the pic.im image service.
There's the standard list view which will automatically integrate tweets from multiple accounts into a single timeline. There's a three-pane view, somewhat similar to Mail, with a sidebar allowing you to choose between accounts, and finally (my favorite) there's a multi-column view reminiscent of the Adobe AIR-based TweetDeck and you can, of course, choose what appears in each column: main timeline, replies, sent messages, searches(!), etc.. In addition, replies are automatically threaded so they appear indented under the most recent tweet from the person to whom you are replying (as well as within the normal timeline). Another nice feature is that it automatically displays the domain of shortened URLs that appear in your timeline.
In short, I think I've found my new Mac-native Twitter client. Nambu is a free download from The Nambu Network.

I was wondering when you were going to post something about Nambu (:

I've found the latest update has made what was a good app un-usable, it seems most actions I perform result in the beach ball for 2 minutes. Shame I've gone back to TweetDeck. Be interested if anyone else has had this, if it's just me I may try a re-install.

Sorry about that Tweetie browser issues or id10t error, probably the latter.
It was foing the same to me - beachballs left and right, and other misc. janky behavior. looked like it had great potential though, esp. for power-users with multiple accounts that need to sift through kks of tweets.
Tweetdeck .25 has been great so far though, esp. the FB feed.

I loved Nambu but after the latest upgrade it opens and crashes every time. I deleted and reinstalled. Wrote support but no word. FYI.

Too bad Nambu started crashing this week. I was hopeful when I updated the version this morning, but it's crashing now whenever I try to subtract a search folder from the sidebar view. Hope there's a fix soon as I really like its Mac compatibility.

I've been using Lounge for a native Twitter client and really liking it.

I would have used it if it wasn't for the fact that it lacks a simple (and common) "in reply to" field.
This is necessary for reading threads that you yourself are NOT participating in. Can't understand why this isn't implemented.

There is one thing that really sucks about Nambu..... it saves the password in cleartext.... not nice

I really like Nambu but have been having some crashes this week. I still can't find any better Mac Twitter client though and I've tried quite a few http://cli.gs/SytHHj

Tweetie for Mac (desktop) is coming soon! ;) (http://atebits.com)

Agreed. Is it too much to ask for an application that
1) Doesn't hog the CPU
2) Integrates into OSX ( Growl, Keychain )
3) Doesn't look like @ss
4) Customization or scripting would be nice
5) Is low-cost or free
I'm hoping that the Adium plug-in won't be a total dead-end.

Thanks to this post I'm now enjoying Nambu. It's the best desktop client I've seen for the Mac, and I've used TweetDeck, Thwirl, and Seesmic. TweetDeck had been my previous favorite, although it's a resource hog.
As an iPhone Tweetie fan, I'm anxious to see the desktop app, but it'll have to be impressive to best Nambu.
BTW, am I alone in hoping Apple will build Twitter support into the next version of iChat?

I've tried them all and Nambu is the best I've used. The developers are very responsive and appear to have alot of new functionality up their sleeves.

I have used multiple Twitter clients and this is my favorite so far. The support of groups is superior to Tweetdeck (to which it compares in many ways) in the ease of adding a person to a group in multiple ways. I will be really happy when they enable ping.fm support which is currently disabled - but will be implemented.
Though it certainly is beta and will crash - but still quite usable.
Finally a Mac Twitter client that lives up to Mac software. Twitteriffic was functional, but option poor.

Bluebird is easily the best Twitter client for mac! How has no one mentioned it? bluebirdapp.com

Bluebird is missing a zillion features. The most basic of which is, searching Twitter. Seriously, saving the queries optional, just a basic search would be nice. And last I checked, Favorites view didn't work at all.
It's *nice,* sure, but it doesn't really do aaaanything but the raw basics.
Don't get me wrong, if that's all you need, then definitely a great choice!
Also, this is the best theme currently for it:
