Apple announces Snow Leopard Up-To-Date program
If you purchased a new Mac or Xserve on or after June 8th, Apple just announced that you'll be able to take advantage of the Mac OS X Snow Leopard Up-To-Date Program. Under the terms of this program, if you purchase a Mac or Xserve on or after the cutoff date, and Snow Leopard is not included in the box, you'll be eligible to receive an upgrade DVD for only US$9.95 (shipping is included in price).
The program web page is currently stating that additional information will be posted tomorrow (June 16th), and we'll be sure to keep you in the loop if any changes or additions to the program are announced.

does this mean a full normal copy in the box?
or a grey disc?
There are more than millions of computers & devices to install OS X on. Again, what was your point?
Are you some kind of fool son. Snow Leopard is an upgrade, not an update. I have already received 6 updates for Leopard. Does that mean that Apple should give me Snow Leopard? You Microsoft shills and zealots make me sick.

June 16 2009 at 11:54 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI have the same issue. Does anybody know why? I did a live chat on the Apple website, but they said that you can't register until Snow Leopard is released. I don't think that is true, but that is what I was told.

June 16 2009 at 1:39 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Reply$10 for the OS, I'm sure Microsoft would be charging a S&H fee on anything they "give" away, Apple just opted to have one single fee. Let's go back in the time machine and see what Microsoft did for Windows 98 to 98 SE.
Retail price: $209.00
Upgrade price: $109.00 (upgrade from Windows 3.1, 3.11, 95)
Upgrade price: $19.95 (upgrade from Windows 98 first edition)
Shocking, they charged $20 for it.
Come on, is anyone really going to complain about $29 or $10 that is a real OSX user? No. Leopard will run just fine if you don't want to upgrade to Snow Leopard.
If it's anything like the iLife 09 upgrade program at the beginning of the year it'll only be available to US customers. And that was when I bought my unibody macbook and iLife 09 was already out, just not preinstalled. Lame.

"If you purchased a qualifying Mac or Xserve on or after June 8, 2009, that does not include Mac OS X Snow Leopard, you can upgrade to Mac OS X Snow Leopard for the cost of shipping and handling"
I was going to wait till the Snow Leopard release to by the 13" Macbook Pro, but now i won't have to :-)
Soon to be new mac owner does this upgrade allow you to do a fresh install? I know mac do alot better doing upgrades but I'd rather just do a clean install or if I ever screw something up I don't want to install leopard then snow leopard.
June 15 2009 at 5:44 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyNo need for a clean install, just do the upgrade. I've been using Macs since OS 7.5.1 , & I must say it's been one pleasant experience. I've owned a a few Mac containing the 601 chip, Performa 6200, a PowerMac 7200, PowerMac G3 B&W, & now an iMac 20 inch, I just bought a few months ago. APPLE Computers & devices are extremely GREAT.
