Charge your iPhone wirelessly
Do you have Pre-envy due to the Touchstone and wireless charging capabilities? Well, good news then. A company called WildCharge has stepped in to give you similar charging capabilities with your original iPhone or iPod touch. The bundle is just shy of $80 and includes the charging pad and a gel skin that needs to be attached to your phone. Once installed, just lay your phone on the pad and get your charge on. The skin unfortunately adds an unsightly hump at the base where the dock connector is, but that may be a small price to pay if you really need your iPhone charged sans wires.
The iPod touch version is available now with the iPhone version coming next month.

I would be interested if there were any close up shots of the bump at the bottom. How big is this bump? Is it a passthrough connector? Would it be enough to grab the phone out of my pocket with?
Kinda defeats the purpose if I can't plug it into the various systems I have laying about to play music with (in the MINI, alarm clock, etc.)

Its seems pretty cool, but I would still prefer to have it docked next to my Mac than sitting on the pad so it will sync and stuff. Plus that would be pointless in a vehicle because it would slide.
Proof of concept is nice, but until it can achieve syncing capabilities I think it is just something to show off.

I would like a review of said product STAT, that is really cool...althought I'm curious as to if it interferes with the magnetometer in the 3GS or not...and what the charging time is, in comparison to your standard USB cord charge.

Does anyone else see the Palm Pre ad on this page?
Either a slick marketing plan or a waste of money because of this site's audience.

I agree with melloplayer, I want to know if this skin affects the sync cable. I don't want to remove the skin to sync.

ALthough it would be really really really cool if they could run the sync through the pad. Or if we could SYNC THROUGH WIRELESS.
If it could sync and charge through the pad (yes, improbable.) then you could have some really cool setups in vehicles.

There are still "wires". What you don't see are the backs of these skins. There should be 4 exposed metal dots that come into contact of their metal mat to provide the power needed.
I want true wireless charging like the pre. Why is this taking so long? This tech has been around for 10 years.

Can someone please explain what the advantage is to being able to charge a phone wirelessly? The pad has to be plugged in, so there's a wire in place of the wire that currently (no pun intended) connects to the iphone for charging. The time it takes to connect the phone for traditional charging is a split second. So for $80, you can place your phone, in a mandatory skin/case, on a pad. Wooo Eeee!!!!

agreed 100%.
are we really that lazy? this (as well as the pre touchstone) is quite possibly the most pointless tech i have ever seen. it would help you shave... what... .5 seconds off your day?

I like this and I think that it is not a bad price at all. Sure, with most other phones you just replace the battery cover and away you go, but don't most people have the iphone in some sort of skin? I know I do. I actually don't sync mine all that often, I mean I have not in about 4 months. This would be great for my nightstand.

This little blurb would be much better if:
1) You did a little research to find out how long it took to charge and iPhone
2) You did a little research and mentioned what some of the con's to wireless charging might be
Further am I the only one that thinks it ludicrous that we can CHARGE our iPhone/iPods wirelessly but we still can't sync them over Wi-Fi?
