VA Apple store closed due to shooting, armed robbery attempt

I've shopped at the Clarendon store, and the staff has always been unfailingly helpful and courteous. I hope that the victim of the shooting enjoys a complete and prompt recovery, and that the Clarendon team can also recover quickly from what must be a very traumatic experience.

really, hand the guy a new 3GS and track the phone to his house with Mobile Me! Apple stuff can be tracked much easier than Wintel because certain programs report the serial number on Mac when they phone home to Apple and without "extreme measures" it's not easy to get them all.

No. Class struggle cannot be achieved through crime.

These 4 comments are disgusting. I work at that store. The woman who was shot is a friend and colleague of mine. Where the hell is your decency and concern of others.

You guys are my store! I hope she's ok and the staff isn't too terribly shaken...

Sad to say it's a very old trick to rob stores. I was warned about this trick 20 years ago on my first day of work at the McDs. This happens at 7-11 and McDonald's all the time because they have to take trash out at night or stink up the place.
I'd suppose Apple is more "upscale" and not used to thinking about the small time thugs. Gotta remember, you're sitting on a gold mine in those stores... There's more "liquid" street value in hitting an Apple store than an average bank branch now days.

Shooter probably had the wrong address and thought he was at the abortion clinic.

Not funny.

Too bad the employees weren't packing....attempting to rob a store with armed personnel usually concludes with the perps receiving the ultimate sentence for their crimes, and good riddance.

I used to work at that store (about 4 years ago, but many people I worked with are still there), I hope she's OK. Clarendon is not a neighborhood where you would expect something like that to happen...

Wow, that is my local store, scary stuff. And to the idiots posting on here, have some common decency and act like adults for crying out loud.

Wow, thats where I bought my MacBook Pro. It was the 4th store we went to that day because none of the closer ones had 15" glossy screens...
They were really nice, I hope the employee is ok.

I've shopped there - great little store and easily the best store to shop at in the DC Area as it's always quieter and friendlier.
Hope the staff member gets better soon!
