SweetFM now an open source project

Update: SweetFM has now been moved to a project on GitHub

SweetFM, a totally awesome Mac client for the Last.fm streaming music & recommendations service, is now an open source project. This means that anyone can download it for free and you no longer have to pay $29.00 for a license key to use the application. Our own Christina Warren reviewed SweetFM last month, and she was pleased with its slick design and many great features, including Apple Remote and Apple Keyboard media key compatibility, extensive integration with iTunes, and deep support for your Last.fm stations.

Since her review, SweetFM has also been updated, adding an equalizer for Last.fm streams and bug fixes.

If you're interested in SweetFM, check out the Chocomoko website, visit the project page on Google Code, or read Christina's earlier review. SweetFM is a Universal Binary (compatible with Intel and PowerPC Macs) and requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

I just tried to stream some music but it´s not working
I have a last.fm account (free) but somehow there is an error connecting to it, meaning it doesn´t stream anything....
Does anyone have the same problem?

Crashed on me three times within the space of about an hour. Thanks, but no thanks.

I tell it to play my neighbourhood radio and it loads one song, plays 1 second and then says there was an error. Deleted. Even if this works the interface is too obtrusive for my liking, did people really pay for it?!

How on earth do you import tracks into iTunes?

Great app indeed! Interface is beautiful and the functionality (exporting of loved/added to playlist-songs) is on of a kind.

What new users should know 2 things: 1) You have a 30 days free trial to LastFM personalized radio. After that you will have to pay $3/month to LastFM, which is well worth it considering the great service they're providing. 2) When searching, use the prefix '/a' for artist search '/t' for tag search, and so on. For list of prefixes, click on the arrow to the left of the search box. Hopefully this will get automatized in future versions of SweetFM. :)

Tried it out some time ago. Didn't seem very special to me, so now I use Songbird for Last.fm. Has scrobbling, all kinds of integrated personalised radio channels, Napster scrobbling, and so on. Put shortly: Songbird is the (near) perfect Last.fm client! And OSS, too.

If I were a paid Sweet.fm user, I would be pretty pissed, however. That app was first announced with a 15$ price tag, at release it cost twice as much, and now it's free. And all that in a very short time period of one year or less.

I downloaded and have it running. VERY nice app... and being OSS makes it so much the better. Big Kudos to the dev!

I'm glad, but that makes me mad, I bought two licenses for $40 just three weeks ago and it didn't even work half the damned time.

Crap.
