TwitPic Find: Snow Leopard on a hackint0sh
What's better than pictures of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard in the wild? How about a snapshot of Snow Leopard running on a hackint0sh? While this could be a doctored photo, it does show a Eee PC 901 netbook with several windows open on the screen. In the About This Mac window are the magic characters "Build 10A432", which all good TUAW readers should recognize as the build number for the Golden Master of Snow Leopard. Click the Read More link to see the picture.

Maybe the first you've seen, but this was done over two months ago:

Honest question here:
How did they do it back in June when the RTM wasn't released back then?

it absolutely possible to run 10.6 on a hackintosh and it's no secret but the above screen show is fake. The claimed install would not recognize the CPU model and most of all it does not tell you the build number. And I should know since I am running it. Also an eepc does not run 1600mhz ddr3 ...

10A432 is NOT the golden master, if it was it wouldn't have gone out to the Appleseed community for testing.

Apple commonly seeds the final build to developers. Leopard was a notable exception, and caused many problems as a result. This doesn't mean that I think 10A432 is GM - I'm still on the fence on that one - but the fact that it was seeded is hardly evidence one way or the other.
What is very unusual is that Apple will almost always designate some of the final builds as release candidates, then declare a GM. Then again, they've never delivered seed updates via Software Update before, so they've been Thinking Different this time around.

for what it's worth I really hope it's not the gold master since there are still bugs and applications do sometimes crash. Not only that but I have seem somewhat strange behavior in Finder and the Dock.

it didn't. doesn't mean you still can't get it. i have it.

10A432 is NOT the GM....
Too many considerations... issues...
It is blazing fast but that is all I am going to say.
I do not want to lose my Dev privileges.
It is quite interesting that this update was back to burning a DVD again.
I liked to SU process.
But DAMN it is fast.

10.4.0 and 10.5.0 both had numerous issues too. That is why 10.4.1 and 10.5.1 followed within weeks of Tiger and Leopard going on sale. At some point Apple has to get the OS out the door. I see no reason why small issues with 10a432 (which are not being universally reported, BTW) are reason to think it's not the release version of 10.6.0.

I was wondering how come I was getting a bazillion Twitter followers a minute!
You may be interested in the full blog post, much better picture there. But I seriously don't recommend anyone else try this until there's a full driver set out there. The trackpad doesn't even work.

Mars478 and Dalton 63841 on msiwind.net have it running at 80%. Drivers are missing, screen res isn't great, etc-however it is functional. Not to take credit away from your work or anything, kudos.

Hmmm... I just installed it on my MacBook Pro and under "About This" It says 10.6 NOT "10a432" is this common when installing to real Mac as opposed to a Hakintosh? Curious...hmm

click once on 10.6 to display the build number, again to display the serial number

Actually it is the GM because we were given it to do some testing for our product and Apple gave us confirmation that it is the GM. I have it on my Mac for testing and i am very happy with it. It is lightning fast and far superior to Leopard. And mine also says Build 10A432 Unless over the weekend they found issues with this build but like i said before this is the GM and it is going into production for the September release.

Credit should be givin to netkas and the chemeleon crew as they do the hard work to make it easier on the rest of us.
No offense to Sts but this isn't new or amazing, and all the people who have doing recompiled 64 bit kexts and decyptor kext(insanelymac, Infinitemac, netkas, etc) deserve praise for all they have done to make the install easy for the rest of us.

If you read the rest of his Twitter feed, you’ll find out it’s really Leopard on a eee PC, but it’s not working in a usable manner:
“I have Bluetooth now working on Eee in Snow Leopard; still no touchpad. Have compiled a few different versions of the VoodooPS2”
