iRingPro offers more tones, improves favorites

Last year I wrote about iRingPro, a group dedicated to bringing "ringtones for adults" to the iPhone. At the time they had one set of 27 tones available simply called "Zen," and they really do sound good. In fact, I still use them today ("Tokyo Station - Hi" Is my favorite).

Most feature a series of unobtrusive tones followed by a brief pause. If you've ever been annoyed by the guy whose phone unexpectedly blasts "Enter Sandman," then the Zen tones are for you.

They've recently updated the Zen series to include longer pauses between tones. Additionally, they've introduced two new collections, "Origin" and "Tek." Each collection contains between 22 and 31 tones featuring brief silent pauses and another full set with extended silent pauses in either MP3, iPhone for Windows or iPhone for Mac format. I must admit that I'm quite tempted by the Origin pack.

It's true that you can make your own classy tones with GarageBand, but these sound great and won't embarrass you when your phone goes off at a PTA meeting. Each bundle costs $9.95. If you purchased the original Zen set and were wise enough to save your receipt, you can upgrade to Zen 2 for free.

Total junk. Mobile17 and PhoneZoo blow these away, and they're free. Who pays for ringtones?

Yawn. Somebody just turned thirteen and doesn't have a credit card.

Phonezoo has the CuppieCake song! Way to call it, Sammy.

Not really. Of course I might be a little bias. I am after all seeing Metallica two times this year :o

How about you write a story telling us about someone who makes software to change your SMS tones (without jailbreaking) :) Now that would be awesome.

After hearing the samples, I'm definitely going to download one of these sets tonight when I get home from work. Another site that I have been very pleased with is...

http://www.ringtonefeeder.com/

You can either subscribe to new ring tones each week, or buy them in sets. Cheers!

I'm glad somebody took the time to do it right. Has anybody else noticed how hard it is to get loud ringers out of an iPhone? These guys obviously spent a lot of time figuring out how to get the best possible volume while still doing something tasteful and creative. I have Zen, Origin & Tek, and they're all good for different settings.

I got the Zen and Tek ones. Really awesome, there aren't any ringtones out there like these. I've tried a lot of so called executive tones, but they all sound like some 10-year-old midi Nokia.

They sound as high-tech as the iPhone is supposed to be.

For me, these are great.

Sorry about the terribly irrelevant comment above. 1Password made me do it! lol!

Anyway, I have been enjoying Zen for more than a month now. Just bought Tek to compliment it. Might get Origin as well.

Make tunes in Garageband? Some people are either very creative or have too much spare time! :P

Bought the Origin set. They sound spectacular on my Mac ... less so on the iPhone. The delay between rings in the 3-part sets seems long to me. "Did I hear something?" might be a reasonable response.

And great as these would be in an office environment, I found them less effective in a noisier environment. My television, for example, drowned them out when the phone was across the room.

The Tek set might be better.

Just what I've been looking for. Bought the Zen and Tek sets. Got a creative jones, brought a few of the sounds into GarageBand, mashed'em up a bit, and saved them as ringtones. Fun stuff!

Thank you for that. I really, REALLY was waiting for something like that. I just don't have the time to sit down and create my own perfect ringtone... Call me stupid, but I just purchased the Zen and Origins packages. Hurray for adult ringtones. :)
