Apple confirms Sept. 9 press event
At last Apple has begun distributing invitations to a press event scheduled for September 9th. The image on the invitation, which features a classic silhouette dancer, pretty much confirms our suspicion that this particular dog-and-pony show feature the iPod (now with cameras! ...maybe). Apple typically introduces new iPods in September. This year's event will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco on September 9th at 10:00 a.m Pacific time. Perhaps then we'll see that secret television ad. In any case, we think it's safe for the pro-tablet theorists sit this one out. Maybe next time, folks.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

I think so. I was on hold yesterday with Apple Support, and they were playing, "All You Need Is Love" as the muzak. Would be amazing if The Beatles hit all media fronts full force on that day. Remastered collections, their arrival on iTunes, possibly an engraved iPod, and their Rock Band game. Wow.

EDIT: I mean, I don't think so...

I'm very excited. I've been wanting an iPod Touch for a while now and considering my birthday is at the end of September, I just might get one.

Interesting how Apple is using a line from a Rolling Stones song for this announcement when not long ago, Microsoft used "Start me up" for the latest version of Windows (I think it might have been Windows 98).
After saying that, I want to upgrade my iPod Classic (30 GB) to a similar sized iTouch. All for the right price.

Yeah, I always laughed that used a song that contained the line "You, you make a dead man come".

Just to correct you, Giants Win, it was Windows 95.
I remember seeing those ads and thinking "what the hell is a 'Start Button?'" ;-)

I think after 15 years, it's probably okay to use another Rolling Stones song!
What I think is interesting is that nobody has commented on the use of a Rolling Stones song with all the rumours around the Beatles.
The Stones and the Beatles weren't exactly friends or enemies back in the day, but they were marketed in ways that would suggest that the Stones were the tough-guy, bad boy answer to the Beatles.

@ Giants Win:
Apple actually used the Stones in the New Colours iMac advert. "She's a Rainbow" was played as iMacs flew by on a white background. Considering that advert played in 1999 Apple has had dibs on the Stones music for a while. That being said back then I thought the same thing.
On a related note those adverts really made those iMacs look gorgeous and was the first time in years that I thought of a Mac as lust worthy. It was one of the first times I thought of switching back to Mac before I finally did in 2004. Thinking back on those colourful models I would love to see some of that colour now in their current range. I love the current looks but some extra diversity would be great especially since my G3 iMac can only run Tiger and sooner or later there will not be a current version of Safari for it.

But will Jobs be back in the driver's seat??
That's what I want to know...
And very interesting point #3...

Announcement of a 500GB / 1TB AppleTV upgrade would be nice... Although totally not planning on it.

I hope Jobs doesn't make an appearance, because then apple can host
another big event later in september with Jobs announcing the
tablet.

I hope both Jobs AND The Beatles open the show, with "Come Together" playing before the curtain opens... but I think The Beatles announcement is bigger than a tablet though. Should be interesting.

I can't believe they don't invite you guys. That's just mean.

I'm betting for the remastered Beatles on iTunes, in additoin to the new iPods. That date is just too coincidental. Couple that with the remastered CDs and The Beatles: Rock Band and I'd say that Sept 9, 2009 is set to be all about Apple Corp (and anyone lucky enough to sign a deal with them)

Thats a rolling stones single title.
