Apple introduces new iPod shuffle colors, adds a new $59 2GB model

That happened to me with my original iPod shuffle 1G. Wore it around my neck on the lanyard under my shirt while mowing the lawn once and it died because of sweat. You'd think these small ones specifically would be more durable to the rigors of exercise.

I heard somewhere that it was either $99 or $99, but I'm not sure which.

I agree. Plus, it gives credence to Apple-bashers' arguments that Apple has actually put out a device without controls — WITHOUT CONTROLS — just for the sake of looks. It would signal trouble for any company to make such an utterly brain-dead move, but Apple? It makes me a little worried for their future that they would not just greenlight, but boastfully market such an abomination.

But the device comes with controls — WITH CONTROLS — that just happen to not be on the player but on the headphone cord instead.

Heh, well, Apple have had plenty of experience with utterly brain-dead ideas like a music player that has no radio, and like trying to compete in the music retail business, and like trying to compete in the smartphone market, and like making a smartphone without a physical keyboard, and like not licensing their OS, and quite a few other things that everyone thought at the time were utterly brain-dead ideas.

Apple has always succeeded because they found out what real consumers actually wanted, rather than listening to a few vocal tech-heads who have no idea how consumers think and who think that comparing spec sheets is how you can tell a superior device from other devices.
