Apple shows new Get a Mac ad tonight: "PC Innovation Lab"

One of our readers was watching TV tonight and spotted this ad during a commercial break. Lo' and behold, It was up on Apple's website about 2.5 hours later. It basically suggests ridiculous "innovations" that PC thinks will help bring people back to the world of Windows. Mac goes on to suggest that innovations are supposed to make things easier. I find this ad extremely satisfying... it's almost a jab at all of the companies who try to imitate Mac but really just brings good humor to a clever Get a Mac ad.

Thanks Ethan!

Belly laugh. I think Apple should directly take on the ads that claim PCs are cheaper, which strikes me as false when you consider the software and free updates that come with Macs, plus the performance and ease of use differences.

Man, now I want a cupholder on my computer!

*trashes Macbook for a generic Windows-running PC with a cupholder*

I think Apple are the one not innovating after this last event:-
* FM radio - well virtually every other MP3 player has one of these for years
* Video - on the nano! most phones can do that and upload automatically using services like Qik, etc
* Larger screen - oooooh

Come on Apple, you can do better!

Even as a loyal Mac fan I have never liked these adverts, just as i don't like Mac users testifying to everyone how fantastic their Mac's are.
Taking a shot at Microsoft on every occasion just seems childish and pompous on Apple's part, I would much prefer an advert which goes in to detail on the features of the product much like the iPhone advert.
The UK adverts were played by two of my favourite comedians and even then they irritated me, the US ads are even worse.

I don't care much for the NA ads neither, but look up some of John Hodgman's work. He's an excellent comedian.

Sorry to be picky but Downunder is normally Australia, a completely different hemisphere to Britain. Their Gulags have more sand :-)

Ohhhhh, unless that is a subtle reference to the UK's strategy for populating Australia? nice, just got it :-)

What's an iPop?

With iTunes Plus, why would you be purchasing songs twice? (which for the price I think it was worth it awhile ago to upgrade)

With a home network setup, I thought you could share your library over a local network? Especially if you authorized the computers to play your DRM?

Not sure how they do things down in the British Gulags, but it seems a bit backwards...

Did anyone catch the last "innovation", the 4x coffee cupholder?
A bit subtle...

Bubble wrap... there's an app for that!

Good ad... gets the message across...

For those who complain about the media event yesterday - go watch it again, download and install iTunes 9.0 and USE IT. Then complain. I just doubled my wife's and my music portfolio - over 70,000 items I can now load and view and play from my computers and my iPop Touch or iPhone - no need to double purchase anymore.

Ease of use just skyrocketed.

And all the little hidden thingos are great... but I will let you discover hem yourself.

Cheers from Downunder...
