BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac on September 25th?

Even though the iPhone, in its several iterations, is most likely the smartphone of choice for the discerning Mac user, that doesn't mean Mac users choose the iPhone exclusively. In fact, RIM's BlackBerry device still commands a sizable share of the smartphone market. So, if you happen to be one of those people who use a Mac and a BlackBerry, wouldn't it be nice if both of your devices could work together by synchronizing files, music, video and more seamlessly via an application supplied by RIM themselves to maximize compatibility?

Well, that dream may become a reality according to a tipster who gave the scoop to the folks at the Boy Genius Report. According the the Boy himself, RIM is poised to give Mac and BlackBerry users something they've sorely needed: a brand new, updated and super cool BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac on September 25th.

This information isn't 100% confirmed, but Boy Genius does let it slip that he's using a previous build of the software and that it is "running beautifully." So, I guess that's a good sign this is probably one dream that will, in fact, come true -- and very soon.

Even though the iPhone, in its several iterations, is most likely the smartphone of choice for the discerning Mac user, that doesn't mean...

All I can say is (1) I have stuck with Bell Mobility in Canada (perhaps the better of 3 evils?) and alas they don't carry iPhone, and (2) The last version of the Missing Sync was just getting me pissed off. It is a fine name for that program because it does everything EXCEPT sync properly.

So I am looking toward to the proper version of the BB desktop manager.

I had to take a short cut to get my contacts on my BB from my Macbook.. I downloaded google sync to my BB. And imported my contacts from my Macbook to Google then synced them up... It worked perfect AFTER i took out my custom fields and made them standard

I installed that beta on my MBP with Leopard, and had no problems syncing with my Pearl. Of course YMMV, I'm just happy I sync'ed all my contacts and now will wait for the official release before syncing again.

I tried out the supposedly stable beta that's been leaked for a while. Now, my wife's Blackberry Pearl won't let her add/edit contact or calendar events. The final version better actually work.

Thank GOD I have an iPhone.

I just want to say that it is really disrespectful to the developers and risky to your machine to install a non publicly available beta from a file sharing site.

Don't do it. I will not repair your machine, or your phone. Nor should anybody else

The beta that I downloaded on Sept 4 is really really rough. No way to import photos, doubling contacts, duplicating calendar entries etc. I hope that the possible Sept 25 release improves these issues. I can't win when it comes to syncing my BBerry with my Mac!

The latest beta Desktop Manager is very stable. I'm guessing most with problems are using the initial beta? I've used the initial beta and it was horrible, making it work was 50/50. The latest beta is much more better.

The beta works fine for me too, but I'm not syncing calendars, contacts, notes, and tasks. Of course, that makes the the beta almost no better than the media connect software.
