MobileMe DOA?
Looks like it. You can't access the main MobileMe page. Apple says this on their MobileMe support page:" MobileMe members are intermittently unable to access MobileMe services. Mail is available via a desktop email application, or Mail on iPhone or iPod touch. Normal service will be restored ASAP. We apologize for any inconvenience."Well, at least that page is up. Seems like MobileMe has had a rough couple of weeks with issues concerning mail, Back to my Mac, and syncing.
The MobileMe service had a rocky start and has had a variety of issues over the last year or so. Let's hope Apple gets things back on an even keel soon. So far this morning, MobileMe is MobileGone.
UPDATE: Some of us are able to log in, but it has been up or down for various people throughout the morning. The status page still says the issue is intermittent as of 3:15pm ET.
UPDATE #2: Looks like everything is back to normal. Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

I was about to get Mobileme, but I'm glad I didn't after reading this article! I'll stick with Gmail, and put up with its limited capability of handling foreign names in its contact book.

A way to use the iphone's exchange server feature to get a sort of pseudo-push from gmail. I hear it works really well. You basically set google as your exchange server and then it does something like a push.

People today have no patience and articles like these fuel the hate. **** happens -- get a life and stop complaining. Technology, no matter from who, is not perfect.

When you pay for a service and pay a lot as with MM, people have a right to complain when it goes down. That's what backups and development servers are for. Google, which has a free version of MM, is down far less often - so rarely in fact that when their free mail goes down its top news on CNN.
As I stated, if it wasn't for my wife's desire to keep her legacy MM email address, I'd dump it as fast as possible.
Stephen,
What service are you going to jump to that does not ever go down? Let me know. La-la land is a long way away :-)
MobileMe is more than service. It's integration into the Apple experience. No one's talked about that. That's why I'm staying.
There's been a couple of issues with address book syncs between my Mac and my iPhone over the last couple of days. I also upped the amount of space dedicated to my iDisk, and the MobileMe site says the changes have occurred, but my Mac hasn't figured it out for the last 15 hours.
Something's happening to their services... Hopefully they'll get it fixed in a bit...
I've been experiencing authentication issues with MobileMe since late last week. Access has been on again, off again all weekend too. Much worse today. I hope they sort this out. How long does it take to make a service solid? Maybe they should stop tinkering in the backend! :-)
October 12 2009 at 4:57 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyOne of the reasons I gave up on MobileMe by not renewing last week. I can't count on it for my email like I can with Gmail. Found a much better website host for $4 a month ($48/year) that allows me to do anything I want, including unlimited FTP accounts for sharing files (iDisk alternative). I wont miss the iffy iPhone sync which tended to leave me with no contacts on the iPhone for several minutes at a time.

any point of Mobile me Really ?with push Gmail and plenty of other storage sites seems MM a epic fail
