Engadget is the
latest to report a rumor that's been
circulating for months: tomorrow may be the day that we finally see those new Macs we've been waiting on.
John Gruber claims we're going to see new MacBooks and iMacs (which we'll rate as "expected"), updated Mac minis (wouldn't be a huge surprise, though we haven't heard that so much about that one, particularly not a mini bundled with Mac OS X Server -- a very nice idea, though), and something called a "Magic Mouse," as well as
a multitouch trackpad accessory. I have to admit: those last two sound less likely than
the iPod touch camera -- while the new MacBooks and iMacs definitely wouldn't be out of place before a holiday season, breaking out brand new accessories without an event to back them up isn't really Apple's style.
But then again, ours is not to judge: the rumors say new mice and some sort of multitouch trackpad, so that's what we're passing on to you. Believe it or not, as you will. We'll of course be up and refreshing Apple's store constantly here at TUAW -- if anything new shows up there, you'll see it here ASAP.

Have you seen the brand new "Bamboo touch" from Wacom? They're pretty cool, being a pen tablet AND a multi-touch device at once.

Hoping for new minis. The two I ordered in mid-Sept haven't arrived and every three days I get a new expected ship date, though the on-line store still says they ship in 3-5 days.

I sure hope the Mini rumors are true. I'm looking to buy one soon.

I've been casually waiting on a new mini or a better aTV... I'll probably be getting one or the other just to serve my TV and replace a dying 5 y.o. windows laptop.
Personally, I think iMacs, Mini's and a new aTV were all due/ready last week but got held over to this week to blunt W7 coming out... who besides Jobs and Schiller knows though...

A little Mac Pro update would be great - about to purchase soon.

I'd wait until the dodecacore Mac Pro hits the streets next year. I'm purchasing that bad-ass to replace my trusty circa-2000 20" iMac G4 (which, by the way, continues to work fine).

Local apple store is sold out of iMacs, and has less than a handful of mice and keyboards left. so new imacs _ accessories is very likely.

What on earth are you talking about? Was there an event for the Mighty Mouse? The iSight? Accessories don’t get events.

If I'm not mistaken, the only planned event is WWDC. Why do you think they ended the MacWorld keynote? They said they wanted more freedom to release products when they want, not on someone else's schedule. They don't have to wait until after the holiday season to release products anymore.

Not doing Macworld keynotes doesn't meant Apple no longer announces stuff at events, just that they're no longer tied to _someone else's_ scehedule for events. Recall their big iPod event last month. Apple still has events to announce stuff, just that they're set for whenever they happen to have something to announce.

Agreed, plus Apple is using the free advertising provided by all the major tech blogs, once the techies know they spread it to their friends by word of mouth, and then everyone is checking them out.
Why spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on an event, when you can just ship them to stores, update the website and let the blogs have a field day with it.

I am also waiting for new iMacs to come out. Been wanting an iMac for about 2 months but waited in case there was an update. I guess I better start saving my pennies sooner than I thought.

Hopefully for our sake it's real this time, it's been way overdue. Lower price by 100 would be welcomed as well as touch input device.

A cheap server would be nice, but I'd want some kind of raid storage. As it is I hackintoshed a pc with 2x500gb drives and room for 2 more, but unreliability over the network is going to force me to go FreeNAS, leaving me without additional functionality. But for a redundant, easy to repair backup server, I'd rather the FreeNAS than a Mac Mini+ external drives.

I ordered 5 Mac minis for work on September 18 and the ship date has been pushed back for the third time to October 30. I'm hoping that means new minis of some sort.

But, but, but, but, the rumors said 10/09, I'm so confused, but wait, if I keep predicting the same thing over and over and over again, eventually I'll get it right.

They're just getting us used to a Jobsless Apple.
And yonatron is right. The mighty mouse wasn't announced. Yet, when it was released it was a hit.
