The other new products that Apple released today

Surprisingly, the Mac mini, Magic Mouse, iMac, MacBook, AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule updates are not the only things Apple updated today. Several other products were updated today, which include:
  • Apple Wireless Keyboard: This keyboard, the subject of several update rumors, did get revised today. It now only requires 2 AA batteries, down from 3 in the previous model.
  • Apple 60W MagSafe Power Adapter: This adapter now has a aluminum connector, much like the one found on the 45 watt adapter for the MacBook Air; it should be more durable for use.
  • VESA Mount Adapter Kit: This model for the 24 inch Apple LCD Cinema Display and the previous 24 inch iMac now supports the new 27 inch iMac.
Also, the wired mouse-formerly-known-as-Mighty Mouse -- which is still available -- was renamed to "Apple Mouse." This is consistent with the trademark for Mighty Mouse (the computer mouse) being finally picked up by Man & Machine, instead of CBS and Apple.

Are you going to enjoy the improvements in these products? Let us know in the comments below!

I just sold my (transparent) bluetooth keyboard + mighty mouse as the annoyance because of that little cable doesn't live up to the annoyance of drained batteries. So I bought the alu wired kbd + mighty mouse and now I'm quite happy, except for that little scrollball which caused problems again in no-time.
That magic mouse looks pretty promising but I'd like to have the wired version! Even more, I'd like to see it being compatible with Windows as well (guess this will be just a matter of time because I suspect many Windows users will feel attracted to a mouse like this as well).

The Mac Mini with OS/X Server looks like a pretty good candiate to replace my home Ubuntu server. I use the server mainly for web development, php programming, subversion and thelike. As the network fileserver I currently use a WD My Book World Ed. These can probably be merged together. It would be great if OS/X server does contain an iTunes server.

Here's hoping they update the 85W magsafe adapter soon.

Although, you would think it'd be cheaper for Apple to just ship all Macs with the 85W adapter.

I might have to find a way to connect an old IBM Selectric keyboard to the new iMac. The giant screens on the 27" make the keyboard look even more like a toy now. :)

Eneloops rock - and you can buy a one-size-fits-all charger from Ace Hardware for well under $20. Does every size.

Matte screen whines make me chuckle. Go into a good home theatre retailer and they'll apologize if a screen is only available in matte.

Ordered the new mousie. Looking forward to experimenting with the critter.

Anyone else think the stubby little wireless keyboard looks incredibly silly in front of the 27-inch iMac? And they're marketing this as a possible high-end workstation. I'm glad the wired version with numeric keypad is still available for free with new iMacs, but I am sorry to see that it's clearly on the way out. Apple seems to arbitrarily have decided that people don't need dedicated home, end, pageup, pagedown, and numeric keys, and expects all Mac users to conform. I'm sure one of these days it'll become a $49 "extra", the way chargers became "extra" for iPods, and now even remotes are "extra" for iMacs. Disappointing.

Frankly, most people don't. Number pad - yes, but the other buttons not so much. Fortunately, you can get a full keyboard for free when you order your iMac, or you can purchase any of hundreds of USB or wireless keyboards that have a full 101+ key set.

Yeah! I can finally get a new mouse. ^-^

Since when are AA batteries expensive? I bought top of the line batteries for my cameras, but that's about it. Mice, and other non-professional items get the cheapest batteries.

One question though, would this new mouse be able to use the Chinese input that's now in Snow Leopard. It would really help my Japanese studies.

I was hoping for a matte screen on at least one of the iMacs.

omg, are you kidding? They finally are putting the MBA/appledisplay aluminum magsafe on the actual power bricks and they're not doing it for the 15" MBP power adapters? Boooooo

I love the look of the new magic mouse and keyboard as well but it really irks me that they are only wireless. They would be a must buy if they had wired versions. Heck I would even pay for the wired versions if I had to, but I'm on a budget and having to buy new batteries even every 4 or 6 months (or whatever) is not good for my wallet. I think I'll be holding off on a new mac anytime soon now as a result. Very sad about wireless-only being included with the new imacs.
