Apple posts Wireless Mouse Update for the Magic Mouse

If you just happen to have a Magic Mouse, and are wanting to use its Multi-Touch features, there's now a Wireless Mouse Update available from Apple that lets you do so in Mac OS X. You still probably can't find a Magic Mouse around unless you buy an iMac, but if you happen to have one or want to prepare for when you get one, you can go ahead and download this update before you get it.
This Update is available for Snow Leopard or Leopard, and can be downloaded from the Apple Support Downloads page.

My biggest disappointment with my magic mouse is that I can no longer use the Expose' features with it :(
Any ideas if this update with fix that by adding additional gestures?

I'm hoping they add a gesture to at least show the desktop. That's the only reason I keep a 3 button mouse (Even though the 3rd button is fairly inconsistent in deciding to work in Snow Leopard).

You could use hot corners. But I also like being able to trigger expose from the mouse; thus, I ain't buying one.

I would love the mighty mouse but not having Exposé means it's not for me :-(
I know I could use hot corners, but I much prefer to use a mouse click to active it...side squeeze for show desktop, center click to show all windows.

I can't fully describe how much I like this new mouse. Of course I might feel this way because of how much I hated (yes, I actually hated) the old mouse.

I don't understand why it's not yet available at my local Apple Stores.

They had them in Charlotte this past Friday.

Well then Charlotte > Phoenix, I guess.

I hated the mighty mouse, I have a magic mouse on order from a large apple reseller and they are telling me it won't ship till the 13th of November, so I guess I'm waiting a bit.

I like the mouse a lot... moving parts are so 1998!
The extra weight and the metal base make it so very nice to use!

What Mac are you using? If a new iMac, the features are already there. However, it should be the case that any other Mac would only allow basic left and right clicking. Scrolling and two finger gestures weren't available.
I certainly found that when trying the new Magic Mouse on my Intel MacMini and Macbook Pro 13" that I couldn't scroll or gesture. Then I found the update last night and tipped off TUAW a short while ago (thanks for the credit, Joachim! :os ).
Now my mouse is fully-featured and I love it.

@RobG
Ahhhh… I understand now… I am on the new 27" iMac. I was hoping for added gestures to use with Expose'.. no luck :(
Thank you!!!!

@JaredM
Lucky guy. I'm trying to work out a way to justify the 27". What processor did you go for?

@ RobG
I picked-up the $1699 27" with the 3.06 C2D. Truly it's overkill for what my wife uses it for (email and web…lol), but biy does it look nice! :D

I was on this before you tipped us. Thanks for reading!

I was really excited about the Magic Mouse at first. Like most, I hated the Mighty Mouse and have long since been using Logitechs. So I gave the Magic Mouse a try at the local store and I can't say I'm happy with it. Not only do you lose the ability to to trigger expose with a physical button, you also lose middle-click. I can't live without middle-click. Also, it's too flat to be ergonomic... at least for my hand. And, what's worse, the acceleration curve still sucks. How is it that a company as successful and brilliant as Apple continues to struggle to deliver something as simple as a properly tuned mouse? Thank God for Logitech and USB Overdrive. Otherwise, my iMac would be unusable. The MBP, on the other hand, has no such problems.

As much as I like the idea of the topside of this mouse, it still has the problem for me of being a mouse. As a trackball user I guess I'm stuck where I am.

I'm bummed that there isn't an expose button too, but my left hand has access to hundreds of buttons, and can invoke the power of pushing the expose keyboard function key.
