Apple seeds new Snow Leopard 10.6.2 beta to developers
The betas of the next Snow Leopard update continue at a fast and furious pace. Apple has reportedly begun seeding a new build of Mac OS X 10.6.2 to developers, just one week after the previous beta. The new potential release focuses on graphics issues, specifically relating to drivers, QuartzCore, and ColorSync, as well as hitting issues with the Dock. Apple has identified no outstanding issues with the build, though the company is asking developers to pay special attention to graphics drivers, TrackPad preferences, and virtual machines.
The company says 148 components have been addressed in 10.6.2 betas so far, including issues in Dictionary, Expose, File Sync, Front Row, iPhoto, MobileMe, Parental Controls, QuickTime, Screen Sharing, Spotlight, Time Machine, and USB.

any idea if Apple will include support for cr2 (specifically the Canon 7D RAW CR2 Format) with this upgrade... or is RAW Support handled by a codec pack in Aperture / iPhoto?
at the moment it simply fails to recognise the format.
Some wired issues with SL:
1. My Macnook AIR 1st Gen keeps heating up faster and that slows down the preformance to a crawl. Barely get things done when heated.
2. SL slower booting up after 10.6.1 using my unibody Macbook early 2009 and AIR.
3. Sometimes the taskbar at the top takes forever t load.
Why can't it bootup Faster? Hope comes 10.6.2 it be faster but I forsee it's getting slower and slower to bootup...what gives?
@BB Caspian:
I have bad news for you but that #1 MBA issue you are experiencing isn't a snow leopard issue but a killer flaw in the RevA MBA. Google "kernel_task MacBook Air." I wound up selling my RevA due to that issue and buying a 13"MBP, best decision I could ever make.
I've had so many issues with Installer. Unbelievably weird to not being able to install any new software because Installer froze on me. Almost always. And now the weird things with Updater. It just doesn't want to install new performance package and iMovie update. However, what I like about Macs is that issues go away with time and then I love Macs again :)

The installer hangs trying to enumerate disks that no longer exist, as targets for the installation. Some issue with Software Update.
Fixed for me in SL, but your symptoms sound samey.
Hopefully the graphics stuff makes CS4 somehow start working better. There's a LOT of graphics professionals unhappy with 10.6.
I loved 10.6, but downgraded to 10.5.8 two days later. I'd have kept it installed if I didn't actually need to use my computer for anything.
My only problem (also of a lot of other Mac enthusiasts in my Windows dominated work place) has been with Exchange 2007 configuration in Mail app. It simply refuses to download into folders with >140 messages! Has been "synchronizing" those folders for at least a month now! It doesn't even show the already downloaded messages for that folder!
October 29 2009 at 10:32 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySo far, my major problem with 10.6 is just the memory usage. I'm hoping 10.6.2 fixes it, but in the meantime a restart every few days works around it adequately.
October 29 2009 at 9:22 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyPlease, please, please, let this fix the track pad on my non-Unibody Macbook Pro. Ever since I installed SL the track misses taps constantly.
Fingers crossed.
I find it a bit odd that people are having so many issues with Snow Leopard. I've been using it since the day it came out, and the OS itself has been flawless. The only thing I've seen any problems with is iChat, amusingly enough.
October 29 2009 at 9:15 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhy do you find it odd? Operating Systems are highly complex beasts and Apple is pushing turning them out on a fairly fast cycle.
That said, I'm not very happy with 10.6. Running any flash video or any application that barely taxes the Macbook Pro's cpu will turn on the fans full blast.
And boy, I almost posted my response to 10.6.2 on Steve's post about the AppleTV, Ken. Yikes. My comment about the remote still stands, and concerning your post, 10.6.2 can't come soon enough. I'm looking forward to finally being able to reinstall Snow Leopard as I upgraded back to 10.5.8. No Snow Leopard, no cry :)
