Stream iPhoto and iTunes to a FiOS DVR
Just last week, Verizon released Media Manager for the Mac. While many customers are saying it's less powerful than its Windows-based counterpart, it received significant changes this week. Namely, users can now stream content from their iPhoto and iTunes libraries to a FiOS DVR (something TiVo did three years ago, but let's not nit-pick).With the desktop app running (configured as a simple preference), you can browse iTunes playlists as well as your entire library. From iPhoto, browse your library, events and slideshows. Keeping events intact is nice for when you want to show Aunt Shirley pictures from your trip to Scranton.
Note that this requires a FiOS TV DVR Set-Top Box, Mac OS X 10.4 or greater, iTunes 7 or greater, iPhoto 6 or greater and QuickTime version 7 or greater. For an unnecessarily enthusiastic demonstration of the software, check out the video after the break.

But Tivo desktop and Galleon are broken under Snow Leopard.

The video reminds me of the Windows 7 launch party videos.

The Windows version streams video, which would make this software actually useful.
Verizon Wi-Fi doesn’t support Mac OS X or iPhone.
I have FiOS, and am tired of being a second class citizen to them. Great tech, lousy programmers, customer service, and corporate vision.

...the article states that Verizon now supports Mac unless I misunderstood. Also, I''m a Mac user and I can't seem to get it to work at all. I've dl'd the program from Verizon to no avail....

Since I assume it uses UPNP-AV for its Mediashare magic, you could opt to go with Elgato's EyeConnect instead which includes the ability to share your videos as well as photos and music. And if you're a little more technically inclined as well as cheap, check out mediatomb. It's a command line UPNP-AV server tool that does on-the-fly transcoding -- it has been streaming HD content to my DirecTV HR21-700 flawlessly for months now.

This is terrible. Downloaded it and tried it this morning and I honestly don't know why. The pictures are greatly degraded when viewing and every time I decided to stream one of my music content, the app would crash and my damn cable box would reboot. Now back to the drawing board.

Too bad AT&T U-verse hasn't bothered doing this. They have limited MS Media Share for music and photos only. U-verse uses Windows CE for their DVRs and STBs. :-(
Don't have Verizon FiOS here. U-verse better than Comcast by far.

I downloaded it this morning. It seems to work well (and makes me realize how much I need to organize my iPhoto). I just wish it would stream video... it'd work a lot better than putting videos on my iPhone and then hooking my iPhone up to the tv
