TUAW Video: a tour of Freeverse

Welcome to the first of what we hope will be many, many TUAW Videos to come. We've done lots of video on TUAW, from Macworld Expo coverage to WWDC interviews to fart apps and more. This time we're trying something a bit different. This time we're taking it slow and profiling Mac and iPhone users, developers, mavens and anyone with a story to tell. If you've ever seen MacHeads or Welcome to Macintosh (both of which are awesome), you know there are plenty of passionate Apple fans out there. If you're reading this blog you probably know this, right? Well, now's the time to tell these stories.

We visited Freeverse in Brooklyn, NY and spent some time checking out the factory where Skee-ball, Moto Chaser, Big Brain Games, Burning Monkey Solitaire and the awesome Flick series of iPhone games come from. We found a passionate, creative team of coders and designers working hard to keep you entertained. We also got a peek at Warp Gate, which looks like a huge game to cram into an iPhone.

Watch the video and tell us if you'd like to see more of these profiles. If you're a passionate Mac user with an interesting story to tell you can get in touch with us here.

On an iPhone? Here's the link for the iPhone version of this video.

Awesome video. Great to see where the Freeverse magic comes from. And I am jealous of that office.

Definitely keep the videos coming.

Awesome video guys. Great shooting, good interview topics, and editing that kept me interested. More more more.

Yes, stop reading this comment. More.

Video = good. If I wanted text I'd go read a book. (sorry jm!) I did think it was a little too much like a commercial for their new game, but the "behind the scenes at [programmer]" video concept shows potential.

Video = bad. If I wanted video I'd go to a TV station website. Text is so much easier to parse. Just my 2 cents...

Nicely done, more please. Though, it would have been great to get more unexpected talk from the Freeverse folks... surely they have funny stories or interesting statistics they can share. Still, nicely shot and edited, and pleasant to watch... Looking forward to the next one.

I was excited about this initially, but sorry, the video was kinda boring. Been a Freeverse fan for many years and know the Jared song by heart (not the $5 footlong one, either.) It wasn't much more than an ad for their new game. "Spending some time touring the (Freeverse) factory" != what's conveyed in this video.

I'd love to see more of a behind-the-scenes tour video about Freeverse, why they are crazy about monkeys, why there was a guy sitting at a desk with an umbrella over him. "Here's where we do x y and z." Where they are located in Brooklyn, and why they chose Brooklyn, because it's an interesting place.

Wash, rinse, repeat for other smallish companies who have the same vibe as Freeverse. I think those would be very interesting videos.

Nice piece, but those Freeverse guys are HORRIBLE up-talkers. Makes them sound stupid.
