After seeing that yellow sticky for just a little while, Apple has
posted the Black Friday specials in the US store. The products on sale include:
- iMacs (21.5 and 27 inch) and MacBook Pros (13, 15 and 17 inch) are discounted $101, and start from $1098.
- You can save $11 on an iPod nano, which can be purchased from $138 today.
- You can also save $21 on a 8GB iPod touch, $31 on an 32GB iPod touch and $41 on a 64GB iPod touch.
- You can get an Apple TV for $208, a savings of $21.
There's also discounted prices on software, Mac accessories, iPhone and iPod accessories, so there's something hopefully for everyone.

I can't remember Apple ever having an exciting black friday sale. Yawn is right, but that's exactly what I would of expected.
Good point above about it not being on top of epp/educational pricing... Sounds like pricing is already as low as Apple is willing to go.
My recolectikn is there were far bigger discounts elsewhere last year from 3rd party retailers.

You buy all those things every day?

Last year the discounts were on top of EPP/student discounts, but this year they aren't, so the prices are exactly the same as the ones I always see on the apple store.
Now I have to think harder about whether I really need a new iMac now, or if I can wait until I get a new job that pays more and doesn't let me keep a MBP at my house for "emergencies".

Well if you already have a MBP, then I'm going to assume it's good enough to do everything you would need. Hardware hasn't changed THAT much in the last few years. Probably a good idea to wait, in the end you'll end up with a better computer later on when you're getting paid more.

I don't know if you missed the memo or something, but the new iMac is SHINY.

Wot?? No Mac Mini on sale? That's almost as raw a deal as having to wait until 3.0 for Cut and Paste.

My mom has been looking to pick one up with her educational discount and this just saved us an extra $50 so I'm a happy camper here

Meh.. the savings are a colossal $1 more than an educational discount.

So they gave everybody the educational discount...yippppppie.
If you're looking to buy a macbook or imac immediately, and are not a student, then I guess it's nice. Other than that, this isn't anything too special and is really boring. 11 dollars off an ipod...whoop whoop.
You would at least think that Apple could give students the special AND the educational discount, then I would be more excited about this.

Bought my mom an iMac the Monday before Black Friday and called that Friday morning to get a credit for $101. They happily agreed without any argument.... So that meant for $1098 i got a the discounted iMac price AND a free canon all-in-one printer. Best deal ever and not even from a shady third-party. Thank you Apple!
