I just picked up an MSI Wind u100 yesterday. Spent all night last night getting OS X on it. (10.6.2) - I am surprised at how well it actually works. Very snappy and fast. I have noticed some graphic issues here and there, mostly only when I am browsing through system prefs. I am sure it can be fixed easily thuogh. So far so good. Definitely feels strange having OS X on non Apple hardware. My Macs are kind of glaring at the Wind, haha.

@ Victor - Michael may not be a moron, but he IS overly defensive and sarcastic to comments by readers that he doesn't like.

Sorry to butt in to an already hijacked thread, but yeah, even Consumer frickin' Reports does a daily deals post. It's important to attribute, and Consumerist sends you to the deals sites, so they still get the traffic, at least.

That said, I already use http://www.tuaw.com/tag/@not-iphone/ since I don't have an iPhone; if there's a similar @ tag so people who don't care about daily deals can skip them, maybe everyone wins? (And for that matter, are @ tags stackable?)

Hmf. I clicked Reply to the OP's hijack. Maybe the new Aol can fix that someday.

Is there anyway to put the "daily deals" in a separate RSS feed? I don't subscribe to TUAW to get "daily deals", I subscribe to get news about Macintosh. It would be nice to not have to skip those posts each day. Thanks.

Well, you're right in that I should have been more explicit about the source -- for some reason I thought I had made it clear in the post. I've added a line indicating that that stuff is FROM dealnews.

But Michael is not a moron. Have you read Gizmodo's Gadget Deals of the Day? We're so not the only people to round up deals -- and no where in that post do I point to a review. It's just a simple round-up of deals.

You don't seriously think we were trying to hide our cooperation with DealNews, do you?

How about I come to your place of business and, just for fun, I hold up a sign saying "Mentalsticks is on the take" every day. And when people ask me to explain I say "Oh, that guy is as crooked as the day is long, everyone knows. I'm surprised he's still employed, what with his criminal tendencies."

Is that so bad? If anything, it's funny, because making random accusations in public has long been known as the highest form of comedy.

Or am I the only one who thinks you have some serious personal issues to work through?

mentalsticks, that post wasn't supposed to have comments. Yes, Aol made a deal with DealNews. We used to have a box with daily deals on it -- egads, we made a bit of money off of those!

Steve Sande was talking about bloggers being paid BY MANUFACTURERS or developers to write glowing reviews. We don't do that.

However, we do have ads and we are posting daily deals. If you don't like that we are getting some referrals, just don't click on them. Go to dealnews.com and do whatever you like.

Guess what? Aol is a for-profit company and I like to pay my bloggers to write for us. If that rubs you the wrong way, there are plenty of other sites begging for your grammar checking.

Get an MSI Wind, the Dell Mini's are too expensive... you get the equivalent hardware for $150 less, and it is perfectly compatible with both Leopard and Snow Leopard.

$150 less? Where? The 10v is $300 and the cheapest MSI Wind is $320 as far as I can tell. If there's a Wind out there for $150, I'm picking that sucker up pronto.

Seriously. I paid $199 for my Mini 9 and not that much more than that for the Mini 10v.

I'm having a problem using the "netbook installer method 2 - from any operating system" on my mini10v. the instead of loading the snowleopard installer from the 2nd flash drive, the screen just displays boot0: done like so:
boot0: done
boot0: done
boot0: done
boot0: done
boot0: done
boot0: done
boot0: done
boot0: done
boot0: done

Does anyone know if an Acer Aspire One AO751H is able to run OS X?
