Five iPad accessories to be available at launch

There will be five Apple-branded iPad accessories available at launch. We already mentioned a few of them earlier, but here is the complete rundown (with official product photos):

iPad Keyboard Dock
The Keyboard Dock is a dock for charging your iPad, integrated with a full-size keyboard. The dock has a rear 30-pin connector, which lets you connect to an electrical outlet using a USB Power Adapter, sync to your computer, and use accessories like the Camera Connection Kit. And an audio jack lets you connect to a stereo or powered speakers. The dock will sell for $69.

iPad Case
The iPad Case not only protects the iPad, it can be used in various positions. So it's easy to type, look at photos and slideshows, or watch movies. The Case comes with a picture frame stand, and will sell for $39.

iPad Camera Connection Kit
The Camera Connection Kit gives you two ways to import photos and videos from a digital camera. The Camera Connector lets you import your photos and videos to iPad using the camera's USB cable. Or you can use the SD Card Reader to import photos and videos directly from the camera's SD card.

iPad USB Power Adapter
The 10W USB Power Adapter lets you charge your iPad directly through an electrical outlet. And the 6 foot long power cable allows you to charge it from an even greater distance.

No doubt there will be plenty of third-party cases and accessories announced by the major vendors in the next few days/weeks. We'll keep you updated on all the accessory news as we get it!

I just ordered a iPad Vanity Plate which provides contact information in the event you misplace your iPad. It is a stainless steel plate with your contact info engraved on it. Great idea.

My favorite iPad is accessory is the Pedestal Base. It looks like the acrylic stands that display the iPad at the Apple Stores. I love the look it gives my new iPad. Found it at newPCgadgets

It looks lush, but expected more than just a bigger version of the iPod touch. Give it full mac capabilities and a bigger memory like 500gb to 1TB, then I would be exited over this iPad.

What would be very nice is if apple made a smaller version of the official iPad case for the iPhone, why has apple never made one to protect the gadget of the decade?

If they can make a keyboard connector for the iPad, why can't they make one for the iPhone? Sheesh.

To whoever replied to me, I'm afraid I won't be seeing your comment. TUAW's comment system is still broken. I've been told that you have no control, blah blah, but Engadget's comments work just fine. Figure it out already.

Does anyone no id the camera adapter USB plug in would allow you to plug in a flash drive to load documents either pictures or iwork documents created from a different computer. I really hope it does but i am pretty doubtful.

This would be perfect. I have several SDHC cards and with my camera shooting 720p, files are huge. Lack of a SD slot is regrettable (same w USB). So if you plug in a SDHC card with some files on it into that dongle, what happens? It is a computer, so hopefully someone can make an app for that ;)

A dock with a USB cam?

The Camera Connection kit seems to come with two white (ugh) dongles: one for USB and one for SD. The first would seem to open a world of possibilities, while the second just has to do more than jpgs, right?

Even for a 1st release this thing has to many short comings to be a device that as functional the Dell netbook running osx that I hoped to replace. Unlike others on here I'm not buying anymore apple stuff just for it's cool factor, it will need to be functional & have software / hardware / connections that support that purpose. This ipad really wasn't that well thought out or it would have offered more than a low price point. Lastly, even my iPod has more flash than this thing & it doesn't need space to store books.
